Clearly in this context it is people more interested in promoting their own social justice beliefs ahead of the functional needs and interests of the football club.
CB
so you don't believe there is room for social justice in the context of a sporting club?

But we are still trading Walsh right 😛🤐

Actually, this is one of my rare 'serious' posts. A pretty good source too.
Having said that, he told me the landscape is changing daily at the Club and what's accurate today, can be different tomorrow.

Given the confidentiality protection requirements mandated in HR policy and practise in Australia I would be shocked if there is any real validity in most comments that are being attributed to players, unrelated club officials, boot studders, bar managers, shit carters, media....etc.
Its not like they are privy and they won't be getting daily updates.
The club could face legal action for breach of confidentiality and lose significant respect in the industry.
Are there some "legitimate" leaks, perhaps. But they take a big risk for themselves and the club. Consider their motivation for leaking.
If potential candidates make comments, listen, but don't judge or form conclusions based on their "side of the story".
They too have a perspective based on their own agenda.

I'm thinking it's the latter - "the process" as reported here by people who claim to be ITK was for all intensive purposes just a guise to demonstrate some form of governance in place (and possibly to shut the media up).

The other question to ask is how a player would be across the inner workings of the selection process and what Sayers intentions were.

I tend to agree but my god the bolded shits me when people do that 😅

I've never done one of these trade scenario things before so feel free to give me your thoughts. - ( and I won't factor in the expected leap-frogging in the early rounds just to keep it simple.) This is just thoughts because I've currently got some time on my hands.

PICK 6 - FREO = CERRA
Gives us: Cerra & 24 & 42 left in the first 3 rounds.

WE TRADE A PLAYER FOR A MID 2ND ROUNDER ( SAY 29 )
That leaves us: Cerra, 24, 29, 42

THEN ( IF POSSIBLE ) SWAP 24 & 29 FOR SAY 18ish
Gives us: Cerra, 18, 42

THEN TRADE NEXT YEAR'S FIRST, & / OR 42 FOR ONE THIS YEAR for say, 16/17?
Gives us: Cerra, 17 & 18

THEN USE THAT CAPITAL FOR EITHER ANOTHER TOP MID ( TO GO WITH CERRA ) OR, 17 FOR A SOLID TOP 20 KID & 18 BY ITSELF FOR A DECENT PLAYER FROM ANOTHER CLUB ( TO GO WITH CERRA ) OR 2 TOP 20 KIDS ( TO GO WITH CERRA )? - The second scenario would give us 2 solid mids / players & a Top 20 kid. Anyway just a thought.

The problem is, if you make exceptions to your principles in order to win, then you don't have principles. Principles are (or at least should be) absolute and you live them when hard decisions need to be made, not just when it's easy.

So, it is difficult to say you support the Carlton Respects program, except where decisions that affect the footy club are concerned.

None of which is directed personally at you to be clear. I'm just saying that we don't get to pick and choose when our principles matter.
Sometimes your principles are in conflict. You can still support the Carlton Respects program by employing Ross Lyon. If you are satisfied there is genuine contrition remorse and efforts to rehabilitate and educate and you are confident that the prospective employee will not reoffend should that be part of the club’s consideration? Or is it 100% about protecting the brand? Should offenders ever be considered?

Carlton Respects is the greatest initiative this club has done in my lifetime.

That being said, people need to stop thinking this is the only reason Lyon didn’t want to go through a process. There were serious red flags of a toxic club culture, falling out and alienation with the younger playing group and preferential treatment of certain players in the lead up to his dismissals.

Enough question marks for a request to enter an interviewing process.

The fact he immediately pulled out says an awful lot.

Thanks for the info 43. Always appreciated.

Why wasn’t this background checking done much earlier on in the process? We knew there was baggage with Ross…surely this is one of the first things that needed to be verified/understood before we’d even consider him as a viable candidate?

As I live and breathe... Kane Cornes writing in our defence AND making some sense while he's at it.
happens heaps of time but will be forgotten by the "poor us" media victims as soon as tomorrow - "any chance he gets to kick carlton" - how many more examples of that being totally wrong do people need?

I respect the effort, but there is no way we are paying just Pick #6 for Cerra.

Will require #24 as well or a player.

Every single major project has this - its completely standard - I too have been building software for government and private corporations globally since the 1990's.

If you said what you are claiming in almost every business you would be fired on the spot. No doubt they are burdensome but all business quotes, proposals and bids generally are. Almost all industry have them and certainly any industry dealing with government unless they are already on the approved tender short list. Which you are clearly not.

Maybe you are dealing with Tonga or selling kids apps.

Its completely and utterly standard - you would not even get the opportunity to deliver into government without it nowadays as its entirely part of the process so i highly doubt your entire story. (Maybe some remote regional council - even then I doubt it).

Yeh - I get that - been in this business for over 20 years. I'm just saying we are lucky enough to have enough business and sales pipeline where we can pick and choose what tenders we undertake and which ones we don't (we are in a very niche part of the finance industry both here and in Canada, UK, Ireland). From experience you get a feel for which tenders we have a genuine chance at and which ones we are just being used to flesh out the candidates to satisfy DD requirements.

Thanks C4.

Why would Sayers put Williams in charge of running the process and commitee then be surprised that Williams actually wants to run the process.

Either Ross was badly mistaken and never really assured the job by Sayers. Or if he was then Sayers has drastically moved the goal posts on him.

Once Sayers set up Williams and the Committee to select the coach. It's over to them surely?
It comes across like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
