Does anybody know whether the club has spoken to Caracella about a coaching role? Clubs he’s at seem to do well (Ess this year, previously Rich, Geel, Coll). As good an option as any if Clarkson, Lyon etc are off the table and we’re going with an untried coach.

Sorry if this has been discussed - I’m perennially a week behind on here.

These are good points and I agree he would be a good get but as a senior assistant perhaps (which he probably won’t take anyway).

As a senior coach he may end being similar to DT but instead of being good offensively he’s good defensively? Do we really take the risk on another coach on training wheels.

We may have to with not much left in the market and he's a better option imo than Vossy. Still praying for Clarko

It also may be Gill stalling as to when the club can do a reveal. Wouldnt Gill want all media etc focusing on the grand final and not on the CFC landing either Cook or/and Clarko? If C and C were to come and were revealed next week imagine the media frenzy,good and bad coming in every direction for the week an longer.
Another reason why we may not hear anything until after grand final week.

I find the concern so many have about hiring another untried coach odd. Out of the 17 AFL clubs at the moment (aside from us) 16 have coaches in their first senior coach role. Hiring a first time coach again doesn't make us a basket case, it just makes us normal.

Teague didn't fail because he was a first time senior coach, he failed because he wasn't that good. People forget that prior to getting the Carlton gig he was never spoken of in the top rung of assistants in line to get a senior gig. I'm not saying he wasn't a good assistant but in AFL circles at that time he wasn't seen as the same calibre as the guys we are currently speaking to.

Interesting comments by PTA footy boss Davis/Davies (?) that they won't wait forever for Voss to talk to Carlton. So Voss is putting himself at some risk putting himself through our process.
If I were him I'd be asking for a guarantee of assistant role as fallback before interviewing for senior role.
Carlton probably agree because don't need another prospect pulling out.
