What's the point? I'm all for getting a key position backman but not one for the sake of 'cover'. 'Stop the bleeding' has never been good logic when you aren't in danger of folding. We need to cop everything that's coming our way right on the chin or we'll never know what it takes to win a flag.

Who are you thinking of?
We desperately need some cover down back this season.

Here's 3 previously AFL-listed names I'd at least consider before Cale Hooker:

  • Taylin Duman
  • Oscar Claravino
  • Blake Schlensog

We're not getting a Shlensog. How would we rhyme it? Hedgehog? Groundhog? Swimming togs?
Claravino! Ahhh...great name.
Duman and Durdin could be fun...

The dogs look bemused by the arms out 50 rule…
If their photo was a gif it would look something like this

By chance sat next to Jordan Boyd's dad yesterday for the ANZAC day game. Really good person and a great person to chat with.
Few notes:
  • He loves what the club has done with Jordan and the clear messaging he is getting on his future.
  • Kept saying the culture and the feeling around the club is great.
  • The engagement with parents and family is really high, and what the club has done for Jordan and him has been incredible.
  • He also mentioned that the club is very very high on Carroll and Mirkov.

Really hope Carroll debuts this week

Some injection of youth could be the right move. We need more energy in the group

Carroll, Willo and Stock should all considered

Totally agree!! My inclusions for this week would be - Carroll, Dow, Stock, SOS and Bam. It’s a lot of changes but like you said we need some more energy in the side

Howdy folks. Bad luck on Pitto - always liked him at the hawks and his aggressive, rugged old school footballing ways.

Curious to know what anyone thinks the plan might be going forward in the ruck and how close Mirkov is? (don't know much about him)

Asking for a mate (literally) - an 80 yr old die hard blue fan that gets as cranky as any when ya's lose. Hoping to relay any info his way. Cheers.

The consensus seems to be Mirkov not ready and we’re looking at bringing Kruze out of retirement so in summary we’re screwed … maybe pour the old fella a glass or two before breaking the news … lol

i think it'll just be tdk rotating with jsos in the ruck from now on.
Mirkov isnt ready yet doesnt have the tank to even run out a VFL game. he'll be 1-2 years away till he can fully take the no.1 role, having said that in recent weeks he's made huge strides (pun intended) in his progress being involved in hand ball chains, field kicking.
couple of weeks ago you couldn't say that about him. others could elaborate much further, but thats the best i've got :)

Bad news for Pitto. Shocking timing.

For the life of me I can’t honestly see how Mirkov is ready for senior footy. Surely it is now all on TDK.
What are the odds of TDK getting through three months of solo ruckwork? We might not have a choice, unless we go to the MSD (which I suppose we could with Pitto on the LTIL).

Slim at best. From what I understand though Mirkov was a speculative pick last year. I saw him in the praccy match before the season and he looked a million miles off. Ironically we will miss Casboult over the next few months. All we can do is fasten our seat belts and hold on.

I wonder what the team would say if Austin asked them

"Do you want to run the gauntlet and see if we could get by with TDK and SOS for the rest of 2022?"

I cant help but think they would say "what's going to give us the best chance of making finals, for having some success, getting a back up just in case or just risking it?"

I feel we need back up and I kinda find it hard to believe there is no single ruckman in the state leagues that can do a job to help us, if Mirkov is unable to as people are suggesting.

Jack Hayes sat around for the last couple of years and yet looked more than comfortable at the level for St Kilda before his injury.
