Just read an article about how we are into Amon, Brayshaw (Melb) and Scholl.
Scholl isn't much chop. Amon is o.k. but think that we could invest whatever salary cap that we have left into better areas. Brayshaw is a gun but very, very unlikely to leave and out of our price range if he did.

Afl footballers aren't like footy cards. You don't need to collect the whole set. Our list is close to being set, just need some judicious trading and drafting from here. Would be nice to find a B grade key position player (who has been a bit neglected at his current club) as a free agent . Lewis Young wasn't on anyone's radar this time last year. I trust Austin to find a suitable candidate.

Exception?

Edit: Oh, exemption. Reinhold?

Reinhold.

Key defender.

Coincidentally (or maybe not), it was his former coach (Heath Scotland) who got him into Port Melbourne.

This could be our Tom Stewart moment. I wouldn't be surprised if he told the club all about him and we've kept an eye on him since.

Is this the Reinhold from Port listed as s 194cm midfielder/forward? That was at the start of the season so may have played back since then.

Hitherto known as “the judge”

According to Brad Lloyd we're pretty keen on a mature aged SANFL player. Assuming they would be some sort of KPP, there are a number of players who I reckon it could be.

Kaiden Brand, Connor Ballenden, Will Coomblas, Sam Durdin, Keenan Ramsey and Liam McBean are some of those who I will be keeping my eye on in the WAFL vs SANFL match tomorrow.

This is correct.

Article on him receiving the exemption lists him as a defender as well.

Must be one of those multi dimensional players who has the foot skill to play elsewhere.

I haven't watched any of Port this year but had heard he was someone we'd been interested in.

Of course, this time last year we were linked to half a dozen prospects and Boyd was a bit of a late surprise.

I agree, a ruck that is capable forward

I see this as more of a pressing need than a realistic goal for the midseason draft.

Unless there's somebody ready made for a short term solution (e.g. Mumford, Kreuzer if that rumor has any legs) the rucks you're going to find in this mini draft are all projects and aren't likely to help the senior team any time soon.

Jacob Bower Bauer has been linked with us too.

We don't need either I think. We need patience with the ones we have.
What we need most is this group to play together long enough, and a fast winger that likes the goals.
Not sure we don’t need either.

This week we’re playing:

Weiters (KPD)
Kemp (3rd tall)
Plow (3rd/med)
TDK (Ruck/KPF)
Charlie (shorter/mobile KPF?)
Jack (3rd tall & relief ruck)

Leaving the two developing project players, Mirkov (pure tap ruck) & Akeui (3rd tall def). The big fella is closer than Dom, but realistically both aren’t ready and shouldn’t play this year.

So unavailable is:

KPD: Young (HSP), McDonald (long term), Jones (retired)
3TD: Marchbank (returnes to VFL), Gov (long term), Parks (long term)
Ruck: Pitto (long term)
KPF: McKay (6 weeks) [McDonald]

Next year could see Parks & McDonald join Jones on the ‘gone’ list. Gov’s got another year and Marchbank will be dependent on if he can avoid another long term injury (I’ve got everything crossed right now…).

Adding a KPD and KPF/Ruck would be perfect, ideally in that 20-25 age bracket and without any significant injury history…

Heath Scotland, that former Collingwood player?

It just seems to me that Voss is similar to a lot of modern coaches and doesn’t view the wing as anything more than a workhorse position that’s used for defensive coverage and filling holes around the forward 50m line. Even when we’ve had a full team we’ve never used any of Walsh, Cerra, Martin, Saad, Docherty or Williams there. If it’s just going to remain a spot for foot soldiers to perform a role I’d rather not spend big dollars on them, would rather see us try and get a decent tall into the best 22.

If they're not 198+ I don't really see what they bring we don't already have coverage for.

When does Port Melbourne play next?

I'd like to Judge Reinhold...
