Half of them have publicly stated that they've taken unders to stay together Geelong style. Barrett is a knob who's salty his beloved North are an absolute rabble.
Each of them will have seasons when they crack the 1mil mark. But the power of having the core signed to long term deals means we can move the spends around and balance the cap.
None of them will be averaging over a mil for the lengths of their contracts. Media continually fail to understand how contracts work, and will always report on the largest figure being the entire contract.

On a side note, one could argue that 1m contract is taking unders for each of these players. I know that two of them were definitely offered higher this year, and can safely assume that if Cripps was ever truly on the open market, he would as well.

Hearing the Bulldogs list manager talking about how excited they are to get Liam Jones from a cultural and leadership perspective given the quality of a person he is. Makes me really sad again that we are missing out on him. Jones would have been a difference maker this season when Weitering was gone and he will be a difference maker at Western Bulldogs. Sad to see him go.
Gotta move on from him, Irene. Happy for him to keep playing. He made his choice and we moved on. We have found one on Young who wouldn't have played much with Jones here.

Also have the luxury that if Tasmania is introduced over the next few years none of our guns are vulnerable. I love it from Austin.

It's the Cook methodology. Do your time, prove your worth and we will look after you for your career. Earn your best money in your prime, then have job security at the latter end of your career, earning less, but hopefully with the knowledge you're playing for and helping a club have sustained success.

Bell curve contracts.

Jones has fantastic closing speed and occasionally pulls off great kicks. More than occasionally he gets caught out too far off his opponents and more than that he too often turns the ball over in dangerous spots. Voss prefers a closer marking game in defenders - we dont lose too much with his absence- although I've always liked Jonesy and am sad to see him gone to another Club - so I wish him well in his private life and hope he performs poorly at the dish lickers - which gives me just another reason to not like that Club.

He made his choice and the Club has moved on Flowers.

Lewis Young has been a very adequate replacement & will only get better.

How do you come to this conclusion?
What is experience?

Experience is a mental aspect...
Sports/Psychologist could certainly help individuals or a team environment benefit...
It's experience to know what sort of play is appropriate at what time.

Where a forward might be trying to get off his defender at times, there will be other a where they should be sticking very close to their defender.

Experience will tell the players whichore appropriate at which time

While it sucks that we lost Jones earlier than expected, he would have been the second oldest player on the list this year (behind Ed) and we would have been talking all year about needing to replace him this trade/draft period. We definitely wouldn't have been offering him a 3 year contract - I actually think that's a bit of a gift for us from the Bulldogs as it means we're likely to get better compensation for him.

No one is more frustrating to watch..
No one gets caught off their opponent or not in a team defending position more.

I might be the only way but I'm stoked he's not playing for us after year out of the game.

Good luck to him but couldn't have ****ed us over more. Absolutely dead to me.

For a guy unwilling to get vaccinated for our club despite someone like Docherty doing it I doubt he has leadership potential at all.

On the Jones situation, did he leave with bad blood? We basically resuscitated his career.

I haven’t found anything about why he isn’t coming back to us, instead of the bulldogs.

Was the club unhappy about his refusal to take the vaccine and therefore didn’t want him back? Or was he unhappy with an aspect of the club?

Jones is long gone and heading back to the Bulldogs.

The Club has moved on.

Yes I’m aware, I’m just wondering if I missed the context as to why we ‘moved on’.

Have we never forgiven him for refusing to get the vaccine, did he mislead us that he would than wouldnt, was he pissed off at us?

I’m curious as I haven’t been able to find the context.

Better if we don't add anyone? Perhaps. But better than 9th doesn't take us to #1 where we want to be...

Let me ask you this, did Geelong lack experience? How many finals campaigns did they fluff up before this year? It wasn't a lack of talent or experience holding them back, mentally they couldn't cope. Simple as that.

Again, I'll bring up Emma Murray joining the Tigers and making a huge difference...

Also, you do realise that what I suggested actually addresses their lack of experience right?
Iike what you are saying, but the tone seems unnecessary.

Vaccination was mandatory for all AFL players at the time (nothing to do with the Club)

He refused to be vaccinated and made the choice to announce his retirement.

This has been covered to death and time everyone moved on.

Voss was asked about LJ during a mid week press conference this year and couldn't say "we've moved on" quickly enough - infer from that what you will

So whats our plan if 2 of our core midfield get injured, who steps up outside of Dow and Setterfield, we should really be aiming to keep one in my opinion.
Cuningham and Ed Curnow will be back next year. Jack Carroll will also have another preseason under his belt.

Can improve, but will never be elite, nor does it have to be

Dow needs to improve his kicking, decision marking and be involved in chains more
I reckon his decision making isn’t bad. I think it’s his involvement throughout games - lacking the tank, as you say. Out of our mids who has an elite tank, besides Walsh - I know you said Dow’s tank doesn’t have to be elite. Cotrell, Ed Curnow and O’Brien are elite endurance runners.

Cuningham hopefully can stay on the park and Ed Curnow resumes from where he left off, Jack Carroll really needs to correct his kicking action, it’s flawed , it’s is drawback.
