No one is more frustrating to watch..
No one gets caught off their opponent or not in a team defending position more.

I might be the only way but I'm stoked he's not playing for us after year out of the game.

Good luck to him but couldn't have *ed us over more. Absolutely dead to me.
Jones was a key part of a defence that absolutely leaked goals under Teague, it was a blessing that we have managed to give 23 year old Young the opportunity to take up when he left.

Jones is in the back end of his career and we would have looking for a replacement soon, highly unlikely we would have given him a 3 year deal at his age.

Jones has fantastic closing speed and occasionally pulls off great kicks. More than occasionally he gets caught out too far off his opponents and more than that he too often turns the ball over in dangerous spots. Voss prefers a closer marking game in defenders - we dont lose too much with his absence- although I've always liked Jonesy and am sad to see him gone to another Club - so I wish him well in his private life and hope he performs poorly at the dish lickers - which gives me just another reason to not like that Club.
He gives away alot of crucial free kicks

Agreed.

Jones is too clumsy ..need to be more technical and have more composure as a Backman ..good luck to Bulldogs .. we should look to recruit a couple of others aside from acres ..we need more polish

I agree, bringing in a great sports psychologist would be huge. I still think we would greatly benefit from some people with the recent on field success to go with that.

I thought we brought in a guru sports psychologist from Hawthorn a few years ago.

We also poached Hawthorn's fitness guru.

And our two biggest weaknesses remain injuries and mental toughness.

Kudos to him for having the courage to make the best decision for himself, despite watching the majority bend the knee. That should be applauded.
Yeah pretty narrow minded of people to give him a hard time and say he let doc down. Liam Jones is a quality player and those knocking his supposed frees against and clumsy ain't got that high of a footy IQ. He was was amazing for us!

How does Setters fit into a midfield of Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy, Hewett, Cerra, Docherty, Carrol?
Well Carroll has absolutley not shown himself to be ahead of setters yet at all so I’m ignoring that. Like frankly he’s not close. And we are promoting Doc to on ball now for sure?

Cripps and Hewett will be mainstay inside mids and play almost nowhere else. Agreed.

I could see this next year:

Kennedy could play high half forward.
Setters run with role on ball
Walsh and Cerra 50/50 on ball/wing.

And law of averages would say we would do well to have every single player available all year anyway.

Be stunned if we kept Setters and he didn’t play 15 games.

I've actually haven't looked, but assume we get a third round compensation for Jones
So in effect we've swapped Young for Jones with the WBDs - based on age and reliability, I think we won out of this deal :D

BTW - I've not taken into account our desperate need for Young this year, given all of injuries to tall backs!

Gotta move on from him, Irene. Happy for him to keep playing. He made his choice and we moved on. We have found one on Young who wouldn't have played much with Jones here.

They both would have nearly played a full season, every game Gov and Marchy missed, Jones and Young would have played, then the games Weits missed, we were very undermanned down back this year, all three would really compliment each other I think.

I always thought that this part of Jones game, would have been reigned in under Voss, how much of Jones being caught too far off his opponents was down to poor coaching or poor defensive efforts up the ground?

It would have been really good to see how he responded this season.
