Had a guy come into my work today who told me a few interesting things.

Now I don't know if he full of it or not but I thought I'll post it anyway.

He said we have been in discussions with both Essendon and West Coast about draft night trades if certain outcomes happen.

Essendon one is if North don't select Sheezel then we may look to trade up as they believe Phillipou we fall to our pick.
He said the trade will be something like:

Carlton: Pick 4, Pick 22 & Future 2nd
Essendon: Pick 10, Pick 49 & Future 1st

The West Coast one is if Ginbey makes it to their first pick they believe could get all 3 of Ginbey, Busslinger and Hewett if they can get our pick.

Carlton: Pick 21, Pick 26, Future 1st
WC: Pick 10, Pick 49, Future 2nd

Given our F1 is 18, and their F2 is 19, this is a great deal. :)

Sure this is right? Because while I was joking (a little) above, this would be steal of the century. Weagles are likely bottom 3 you'd think - realistic chance this could deliver us Harley Reid.

It's just what this guy told. Apparently he knows someone who works with a Sports Agent but wouldn't tell me which one.

That's why I said I'm not sure if he is full of it or not.

BTW I believe WC will finish a bit higher next year.

I think they'll finish higher than North, Hawks, GWS, Adelaide and maybe Essendon and GC.

I think they can be better - had a horrid run with injuries. And they do have a significant home ground advantage in 10 games. But can't see them finishing that high. Lost Kennedy, Rioli & Redden from best-22. Picked up Hunt. A bunch of their remaining best-22 are aging. I'd still favour Hawks for the spoon (they seem to want it), but Weagles bottom 3 for mine.

Would take both of those trades, particularly the WCE trade

Probably depends on their strategy.

If they are fit, they may play their senior players and move up the ladder a bit, just outside the 8

Or, they prioritise youth, in which case, bottom 6

You'd do that trade without hesitation now... WC F1 likely a top 3 pick...

Imagine doing the deal with WCE, taking Hotton and George this year then death riding WCE for their 2023 1st for 6 months.

Yes please 🙏
Yeh I like it.

West Coast’s first is likely to be a Top 5 pick next year, but they’d prefer 12 months extra development in a highly rated WC prospect anyway.

Hotton is fairly readymade and should play plenty of footy next year - plus we’re looking to add some further midfield depth.

Not the worst trade off.

Who do North take if not Sheezal at 4?

Tsatas is probably the consensus next in line, just not sure they need to keep stocking up on mids.

Essendon are going to get Davey this year and already have Perkins as small and mid-sized forwards so I can see them being less enthused about Sheezal.

I think * take Phillipou

I'd love Tsatas tbh but can't see him going past 7. I expect we'll know who the top 8 will be before hand via Cal 'the whistle-blower' Twomey.

We have been heavily rumoured to look to move up provided someone drops, don't forget. He doesn't have to get past 7, just past the top 3 or 4 and maybe then we'd jump.

Forty3 did allude to trading up with a club if North didn't have 2 picks ahead of that club.

Sounds like that was probably Essendon, but is now unlikely unless North do something unexpected.

Wonder where he fits if he gets past North and Essendon though?

GC would be silly to add another Vic metro player given their retention issues.

St Kilda probably the next best option. Need midfielders, but I think they’ll lean towards an inside mid - McKenzie or Clark.

I can see Hawks going for Clark.

I think he may slide but also possibly North take him with Wardlaw.
