They showed some fairly innocuous footage on On The Couch, which they reckond showed Boyd having a crack at Harvey's hand...was hard to see much tho.
Boyd's response suggested he was doing it.
Surely Rocket wouldn't support this kind of unsporting behaviour?

Boomer was none too happy about it. He should have got Boyd in a headlock and tried to strangle the life out of him.

It would have been justifiable homicide and Rocket would have been a witness for the defence.

And Boomer could have had the pleasure of a call from Captain Combover to boot!
To kill two birds with one stone, Boomer could then have sought clarification on the Scott McMahon non marking infringement debacle.

I love "Captain Combover". Is it copyright, or is it in the public domain like jacko57's "Vile Serpent"?

I can never spell Gieschen or is it Geischen (or perhaps neither) anyway?

Oh bull shit.

if the positions were reversed, I would encourage our blokes to target the injury.

Exactly. It's football - not bloody soccer. Boomer would have known exactly what he was in for when he chose to play. Still tore them apart. Gun.

So the 'tough nuts' in this thread would have no issue with a fullback standing on Petrie's foot in his first game back after the 3 breaks? Just to 'test it out'? That was my biggest concern and it pisses me off no end people who defend this sort of shit. Your there to play football, go hard by all means, but in the spirit of the game thanks.

C'mon mate all Boyd was try to expose a broken hand it's not as if he slightly nudged him while Boomer was trying to tie up his shoe.

My post wasn't about Boyd, haven't seen the footage. It was aimed at the generalisation that 'if you cross the white line' your fair game. So again, to the posters who feel this way, how would you feel if Petrie's career was ended by someone deliberately standing on his foot off the ball?

We've seen him play out the year so we know he was fit to play, thus relinquishing the medicos, but could his foot have withstood a massive direct impact from a studded boot? Could it cope if it happened next week? Or do we just hope that this only happens at the normal rate of occurrence, which would be very rare and feel safe knowing that his recovering breaks are able to cope with the 'expected' rigors of AFL.

It's just one of the things I hate to see out there, again this isn't about the Boyd incident I just hate seeing this sort of thing in general.

Was Boyd deliberately trying to bend his thumb or just giving him a couple of taps in a contest when the chance came up? I see your point but I don't think you can take a blanket approach to all injuries. I don't think anyone in the footy world would look kindly on someone blatantly stamping, but then I doubt anyone would've had a problem with Carlton players deliberately putting Pendlebury's shoulder into the turf either if they had done.

You're fit as soon as you run on to play the start of a match.

Agreed but only to the extent that we shouldn't blame incidental contact for exacerbating the injury - performing the action with intent is not on.

Play the game.

I think it's a "cheap shot" TM - R.Eade.

:p

I think a few posters have missed the fact your OP is 100% due to the above quote from Rocket Eade last year s'wiper. In all reality I'm sure you couldn't give a toss that Boyd played handies with Boomer. :thumbsu:

scottywiper = knows fishing!

Getting stepped on is going to hurt injured foot or not. People forget what happened years ago after Boomer did his shoulder and opposition players were driving him into the ground shoulder first, that would test out a good collar bone. It happens though, best way to stop it is to play better the more they test it.
