Well, knock me down with a DMac tackle!Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch will undergo surgery next week after not being able to significantly improve during his rehabilitation from groin soreness.
Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said the decision had been made this week with Crouch’s long-term future in mind.
“Unfortunately, Brad’s injury is not responding as well as we would have liked to the strengthening program that we have been undertaking,” Burton said.
“We have decided surgery is the best course of action given this latest setback.
“The decision was made after speaking with Brad, his family, and the team of medical specialists and surgeons who have been examining him and exploring all other alternatives over the last few months.
“As always, the health and welfare of our players is paramount.”
The Club will provide more information, including an expected recovery period, once surgery has been completed

Bad news then good news. Straight out of the playbook. Crouch surgery but Fogarty contract
Soften the blow with Darcy Fogarty contract extension announcement at exactly the same time.
Fog probably signed that paper in December.
Yeah he’s played at least one quality game since 2014.Comments anyone?
they accidentally swapped his arm and leg during surgerySo do we find out that Brodie Smith actually had his leg amputated in December soon.
I wonder when they realised it was OP for Brad?We have three players with chronic groin problems.
We tried rest and rehab with Seedsman last year and (touch wood) he is in the best form of his career.
We were able to draft McPherson because other clubs were concerned about his body. The jury is out but he is meant to play this week.
Brad went down the Seedsman path and it hasn’t worked. With the benefit of hindsight, surgery at the end of last season would have have been better.
Everyone can be a Monday morning quarterback.
Good luck Brad, hoping everything goes well for you.Comments anyone?
Not everything that goes wrong in life has to be someones fault. Unfortunately with Brad we have seen over the last 5 or so years that he simply does not have a body that copes with the rigors of AFL football. He has never managed to get through an entire pre season and has had all kinds of leg issues since he arrived. I really feel for him as he obviously loves the game and we would all love to see him reach his potential, but as a club and as a group of supporters I don't think we could honestly say we are confident that we will ever see it.So who’s fault is this...no one, Brads, Haas and/or Burton?
Brad was getting close to peak fitness at the end last years final series. So what happened over off season. He should have been thoroughly monitored through his pre season build up.
Did Haas not have a good picture of his injury record?
Was Brads preseason buildup managed appropriately?
Was Burton so taken with his new role as footy boss to not engage properly with his replacement Haas?
I am somewhat what elitecrow would call a ‘Mary Poppins’ supporter, I always try to look for positives. But I am struggling to find to many with Burton. He overseas all these footy departments. Really Brad should be pissed and rightly so. I’ve got the shits with Burton and I don’t think I’m the only member that feels that way
