Brad Ebert asks to be traded to Port

how is he overrated? he's underrated for mine.. in the circumstances.. a young mid with 80 odd games experience that actually wants to come to Port and play. are there 2 more players that fit that description right now? goes against everything they want us to believe about Port doesn't it.

pettigrew fits most of those categories. should we keep playing him??

if we lower the bar to " wants to be here" and " has experience" than we will always be an average team.

Meh, forget it. We've already got a Bradd Dalziell that keeps tigers away.

(Well I assume that's his role at the club).
Being quite closely related to the specie o'ranga, it's only natural he'd threaten tigers.

Seriously though, asked the question on our board, but you Albertonians heard anymore about this trade? Seems to have gone flatline today..

yeah there doesnt seem to be much movement.

I think it has been covered in here as to the conversation:

Us: Pick 33
You: 28
Us: 33
You: 28

etc etc etc

Lunch
Yeah, heard that. Was more referring to any updates on that fun tug'o'war.

I think I speak for most of us when I say, just get the deal done..

Can't believe this trade is not done yet!

Why is it that we always end up with last minute trades and get some very average players. Who the he'll runs trade week for us? They, imo, seem to act very slowly and probably restrict other possible trades during the week.

Just bloody get the job done!!

I AGREE, sick of the crap, then a month to draft week how much joy

i dont think he fits any of them he isnt young or a mid or from Port. of course if we lower the bar like that we will never excel but have you noticed where the bar is already? it hasn't been lowered but temporarily unscrewed and is sitting in the corner of the garage collecting webs and dust. there is no bar and there are no expectations, we aren't in a position to be arrogant and turn our noses up to a young man that wants to play... especially considering we finished 16th and have picks 6 and 28 to show for it. to sit idly and say we're way better than that whilst not doing anything about it is what we've been doing for too long i'd say..

we're clearly not adventurous enough to make some big changes, offer some players up, look for another top ten pick or quality youngster to lock in. there is no point having outrageous expectations on the club so much so that we are hard on it. times are worse than that and people have to develop some patience.

I would rather pay pick 33 on Monday than 28 today.

They aren't here to keep internet bloggers happy.

Exactly

The longer this goes on the more it plays into our hands. Its a case of who blinks first and with our position in the PSD and Eberts desire to get to Port we dont even need to blink. GWS or GC would be making a huge blunder if they took Ebert ahead of us.

Pick 33 take it or leave appears to be our stance and the fact it is drawing out longer and longer means we are sticking to our guns. This is a good thing, for us not so WCE.

People need to understand that we really dont need to even get a deal done in trade week. WCE supporters would see that as us screwing them over but hey if we can get Ebert at the PSD and keep 6, 28 and 33 I would have to say job well done. WCE cant say we screwed them if this occurs as we did put 33 on the table and that was what we were comfortable parting with to get Ebert without harming our long term plans.

fivestrings, i'd like to buy your rock
Pffft. Paranoid. Surely a bear patrol is enough. I pay enough for it with the Homer tax.

It's the lack of anything else being done that's most worrying. From his coaching days onwards Rhode hasn't looked like he can do more then one thing at a time.

Sure the recent signings are good, but he can attack each in turn over week(s). Trade week he should be out looking to offload the likes of Pettigrew, Motlop, Kane Cornes (to the Cows) and accept 3rd rounders or 3rd round pick upgrades for them. All whilst trying to close this deal. Frak given we know they are either list cloggers or unlikely to play for us again even a 4th round pick on the hope we get one of the 10 or 20% that turn out ok drafted that far down is worth it.

Im not much of a Rhode fan but he cant trade players no one wants including us. which makes it even more stranger that we are going to re-sign pettigrew.

We should only be trading for quality and not just for the sake of doing a trade, yeah it would be good to offload the dead wood but if no one wants them, not much anyone can do.

going to the draft as much as possible as opposed to trading for spuds is always the better option,we learned that lesson with Nash, Harding and a lesser extent Cloke.

and if the collective interest in those players is zero then what should he do ? The only player there who could get any interest would be Kornes, but with so much baggage it is not funny. With the Ebert trade time is on our side. If it is 33 vs 28 then so long as young Brad is fine with the PSD the appropriate strategy is to go slow. The longer it goes the more likely WCE will blink, simply because if neither side blinks we win and they lose.

Still worried about the Crows to be honest.

Absolutely. They sit back until the weekend and while we are still scratching ourselves and claiming we are confident they trump with 24 havjng convinced brad via management that we cant get the deal done.

yes we are not looking like we will get ebert in my view. Rohde is screwing us again. Ebert is worth pick 28 yet we dont want to pay that. We truly havr lost our way and will demonstrate this again by missing out on a great player then paying overs for someone who will inevitably be a spud or not worth what we paid. Soundls like andre walker and simon phillips from last year. F*** OFF ROHDE!!!

Who really gives a stuff if he doesn't get to the PAFC with the pick we offer, stiff shit! If he's entertaining the idea of the crows then they may as well have him, honestly if he wants to come here and the trade won't happen with wc, offer gc or gws picks for free to skip brad in the psd and come home otherwise swim with the pretty boys down at west lakes! So over this trade it's not funny! Whilst we wasted time on a bloke with a historic surname we let numerous quality sanfl lads just go every where but here.
