Brad Ebert asks to be traded to Port

Bored of this. Whilst we may well get away with handing over 33 only, think of all the time we have poured down the drain, whilst quality "mature" age players are basically being handed out for free by GWS. St Kilda got Saad and Milera for a 5 pick downgrade for christ sake. Richmond got Morris for a one pick downgrade. And what about Chad and Brogan? Will we be left with them when the music stops? We need to be trying at the very least to offload them to GWS for a mature age player. It's frustrating. We need to be making the right decisions this off season, but it seems all we are doing is splitting hairs with West Coast and chasing hack ruckman. Is that going to make our side better?????

Let's not lose sight. The most important thing is what we do with pick A lot of clubs are dealing with the GC because they know that by the time their picks come they wil be left with the dregs. They are willing to get rid of their first round picks to get to some of the 17 year olds. Smacks of desparation to me. The combine only proved that the draft this year has about 6-7 standouts and from their it drops off a fair bit. We get our first pick right and then be diligent with our number 28. Pick 6 needs to be a gun. Dom Tyson, Wingard Or Hoskings are off limits to most clubs. These guys would be good in most drafts.

The club will probably get Ebert but we have no need to panic

The Age this morning reported Port were considering giving West Coast 28 and 33 if something came along with Ebert.

It could be that West Coast are asking for both picks after Port rejected the ambit claim for pick 6. No one can say with any certainty that is not the case.

So who is at fault then if this deal is being stalled. It might just be that Rohde is trying to work a deal for another pick to satisfy West Coast.

If they ask for pick 6 or pick 28 AND 33, well **** them

No one can justify giving up these picks for Ebert. If this is what they are asking for, send him to the PSD. If we don't get him, big ****ing deal.

If they want more than pick 28, tell them to GO AND GET STUFFED (Rowe voice)

pick 28 and 33 for Ebert and Lycett. :D

Well if they manage to land Mitch Clarke then they're top heavy so they might need to trade away a few of their talls ;)

well they will lose ebert to us anyway right? So essentially its 28 and 33 for lycett?

Hmm seems bad for us now that I think about it nvm.

;)

Still worried about the Crows to be honest.
Yeah, there are 4 realistic outcomes out of this.
1. We get Ebert for pick 28 or 33.
2. It reaches near the deadline and Port and Ebert decide WC won't come to the party and he'll risk the pre-season draft.
3. It reaches near the deadline and Brad agrees to go the Crows for pick 24.
4. It reaches near the deadline and Rhode panics and offers WC 28 and 33. Or 28 plus a downgrade on the second round. Or some other combination that clearly reeks of desperation.

I think we by and large could live with 1 or 2, but as the end of Monday draws closer with no progress who here honestly isn't increasingly thinking 3 or 4 is the likely output? Wouldn't it be a fine trade week round up of both SA sides if the cows get Ebert, get the mini-draft pick and the coaches and we are stuck with Brogan and Chad going to the pre-season draft for zip, no Ebert and still no coaches announced.

We'll all be able to give KT a big round of applause for moving decisively to fix up the off-field side of things  Half a week to be proved wrong.:(

I know many directors if companies etc

I know some of the best of the best in one of the most cut-throat industries in the world.

Why do I say that? Becausey irrelevant observation is that we have some incredibly ordinary people at our club, extending to the latest boss at the club, another nobody from an irrelevant radio network in an irrelevant city.

Peter Rodhe was a school teacher IIRC?

If so, enough said

We need to stop speculating and recognise we aren't going to come out of this ahead

You only get one Shaun Burgoyne in your lifetime and we had him

We're the club that traded a pick for Phillips, gave you such luminaries as Shattock, Nash, Cloke, Phillips, Davenport, M Westhoff, Cochrane.

Shall I go on? Walsh? Lonie?

This is why all the good deals seem to be happening while we have scored NIL.

Because they are incompetent. That is why

These people are so utterly useless that they Couldn't get a root in a monkey brothel with a bag of bananas in each hand

As for pick 6, fuggedaboutit.

We'll probably screw that up too

Simon Phillips??!! Still shaking my head.

we tried corporate, JJ took us in the wrong direction as a historic club and put us on a path of rebirth, re-branding and losing all sight of what made us who we are.

never mind where some one comes from, worry about where they are going mate. id prefer to put a street hustler with loyalty in charge of this management, i know they will be ruthless, thorough and get the best deals they can to benefit what they are working towards achieving, rather they some college grad commercial yuppie with big idea but loses touch with its core.

Where do we get someone like this?

Things going to normal, just get ready for the Potato truck to dump us a shed load of spuds inside the last hour of the draft.

Hack ruckman to the left please, and will all you flankers stop running around stay on the right hand side of the line:rolleyes:

Rick you prove my point
We did NOT go corporate. JJ was okay, but he isn't/wasn't a big hitter in our game okay. Truth be told he was wet behind the ears in a sheltered workshop we call an index fund. Does anyone know what an index fund does? it says "no no-one can beat the market, so we'll give you index returns". There's PA for you
Nice guy, passionate, but I can walk you down Collins St tomorrow and show you 30 guys_before_8:30 who have 5 times the stuff

But you are right about not where they come from, worry what they can do. And this is ENTIRELY the thing- where do they come from? A brewery, a radio station, a car dealership. In Adelaide.

Struth. This is the same as saying to the AFL no thanks, just let us pick from the SA boys from PAC, Pulteney, Scotch and Saints. And Never mind Sacred Heart.

So the old fools network of the SNAFL- rusted old dinosaurs- go to the putrid well of the Patawolunga, and spew out another nobody buddy from a nothing radio network. Oh dear. Look at our board. Real estate agents

Meanwhile, I know 3 presidents of AFL clubs here, and the guy who will be the next president of Carlton.

THEY'RE the "street hustler"

and this is the problem

We are hoping that plodder board members, inside pal presidents, untried coaches will improve a list that they haven't actually turned over in 2 seasons.

Extending your Salter, Pettigrew and Ebert speaks volumes.

I'm sure they are all nice guys, but in this game, nice guys come last.

I stand to be corrected in this trade period, but our failure to lift a serious pick from GWS, when we have a guy there was was our coach 15 months ago and knows our list inside out, and we could orchestrate a group swap of players to join Chad and Brogan, is proof we have no idea

We knew about Ebert weeks ago, and GWS/ Choco knew our list back to front and yet Adelaide got the plum pick and we're sitting here wondering huh, whats happening

This period is exposing the ineptness of our club.

Brad Ebert comes to us for free if that is how he wants to leave WCE. We offer them pick 51 and a player like Pettigrew, or he comes to us for free in the PSD.

If that is not how he wants to leave WCE then he stays

Adelaide are not going to get him if he really wants to play for port

No other club is going to take him in the PSD before us

Until we decide to get serious we will always come last.

51, or PSD unless we are happy to finalise a deal sooner to enable us to continue trading

Four way trade for Ebert brewing that will also see Brogan and Chad go to GWS.

THE Western Bulldogs and Greater Western Sydney were last night involved in a delicately-placed four-club deal with Port Adelaide and West Coast that would help Power veterans Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan move to the Giants next year.

Uncontracted Bulldogs forward Josh Hill was at the centre of talks late yesterday, with draft picks 45 and 49 involved in the proposed trade and the Dogs trying to secure the better of them before agreeing to send Hill to the Eagles.

A number of other draft picks would also change hands, with the Giants' contribution set to help uncontracted Eagle Brad Ebert get home to Port Adelaide and ensure Cornes and Brogan a smooth passage to Blacktown. After some early tension, Port Adelaide and GWS have been dealing amicably over the veteran pair. The Giants had at first hoped to simply list both under the rule that allows them free access to players previously on an AFL list, however that option would not have been available had the Power kept them on its first list lodgement, due on October 31.

But yes Rohde's been doing nothing and it's all so simple.

Probably not that simple as a number of draft picks other than 45 and 49 will change hands. Maybe Port will get a bit extra.

Hey FF, don't look at this period where yet again we've achieved absoluely nothing, and infer through yet another- yawn- speculative article in the media during trade week that (tap side of nose twice) Rohde's on the ball.

How about we look at what he's achieved since he's been there.

But hey- Failure happens all the time. It happens everyday in practice. What makes you better is how u react to it. The tragedy in our case is that we react to it by doing it again.

There's a reason he got run out of Victoria and half the avatars here are a mausoleum to his ineptness

Seaby. 'nuff said

And how about you stay on topic. My reference to Rohde is simply about this trade period and the Ebert and Chad/Brogan trades where he has copped plenty of flack based on no info. There has been talk of a multi-way trade from a few journos during the day, this is the first article putting the pieces together.

If you want to discuss Rohde's performance in general there are threads out there.

So how does this work?

Port
Give: 33, Brogan, Chad
Get: Ebert, 49, Pre selected player???

(

If it was Give: 33, Brogan, Chad and Get: Ebert and 49, then we'd probably have to accept that as about right. We then have the option of using either pick 49 or 51 to secure the ruck option.

Wonder whether Motlop has gained any interest out there and could get us another pick around 50 or a prelisted player from GWS.
