He got a 2 week sentance.
+ 1 for loading +1 for contesting.

He didnt get the same as judd.

You don't get extra weeks for contesting, you simply get less weeks for an early plea. So the initial sentence must've been 3 weeks and 1 for loading.

Overblown.

A sad day for football is when a legend passes away.

I see no reason to weep here.

Ziebell isn't the first to be suspended for accidental head high contact since this rule came in, won't be the last.

Football is perfectly healthy, the game is in a good place.

I agree with him. But the constant whine coming out of North is tiring.

I also don't think this achieves anything but allowing him to vent.
So you'd prefer a press conference full of "I'd rather not comment on that", "We're just focusing on the game coming up this week", "I didn't really see the incident", and all the usual boring cliches?????

Don't act like you do it because you guys have a big heart and want the best for the game, you do it because you guys are broke and need all the media attention you can get. It is a great idea and i like it, but lets not act like it is something it is not.

We are not broke, we just don't have as large a supporter base and do not get the kind of value out of playing games at Docklands or MCG where the break-even point is very high, for football at least.

We don't adopt the media policy because we are poor, it doesn't add $0.01 to our bottom line. The policy was decided that it was best for our supporters and best for the game. We get an unparalleled level of access given the size of the club and the size of our supporter base.

Our supporters love it, the media loves it, the AFL loves, only the bitter flogs on BF who have a stick up their arse that follow a different club dislike it. That isn't my problem. It is not the club's problem. It is not the AFL's problem.

I don't know how I can put it more clearly than we do not give a shit that people do not like what we are doing. It is not even water off a duck's back, it is water that runs through the crack of my arse. That is how much I care about others that are offended about what we do and why.

Good presser and I agree wholeheartedly. I made the point on one of the other threads that if this was a marking contest the player (JZ) would have been fine, so why is there a distinction drawn?

Also, what is the reasonable alternative?

I think there is a fine line between a lot of these types of contests, but in this case I believe Ziebell did enough to be in the clear.
Hang back, be second to the ball, and dwell on the bloke who takes possession..........apparently that's what the players need to do now.

Yeh I agree, Zeibell incident was just like Wellingham.

Difference is, after the fact our coach came out and said it was not on and that Wellingham would have to cop his whack from the tribunal. Your coach refused to acknowledge responsibility then cried like a baby when his player was rightfully punished for sniping.
read post #69 for the clear difference between Wellingham's action and Ziebell's.

I don't think any of his whines have provided any amount of significant insight.

People here love it because it's tabloid gossip and sensationalism, not because it's anything ground-breaking or insightful. I don't need Brad Scott to tell me the game is soft (in context of the Ziebell incident). I can see that. We've had media commentators telling us that for years.

Hey pal, this isn't a media commentator. This is an AFL coach. :confusedlook:

Whined after both west coast games, whined in other games, whines about everything. No wonder the Kangaroos can't take the next step, he needs to keep his mouth shut and focus on playing football not shifting blame to others he needs to deal with what he has control of on the field.

Doesn't matter who touched the ball first, dilligaf. Clearly they're both going for the ball. Can't change direction and back out of a attempt for mark or spoil in mid air. I'd rather protect myself then leave myself open to get knocked out in a contest.
