The media played a massive part. Dude was getting shredded rightly or wrongly, it was all over the socials. Kid with a fragile ego wouldn't know how to handle it at all, especially away from home. If he was allowed to lie low and not have every move scrutinized it may have worked out different, who knows.
As it turns out he fell to pieces when the heat came, for his sake I hope he can sort that out but it's none of this clubs concern anymore.
Totally get this (media were relentless) but when he puts it on his teammates, that is what kills the most.

Should've not made it about himself and put in the effort to prove the doubters wrong. He didn't and ultimately it made his teammates take on more pressure. That's just being a dickhead. We were happy to defend the bloke and give him another shot in 2022 but he goes and avoids the group like we are strangers to him?

He screwed us of a pick 1. **** him.

Yep. His ego doesn't seem that fragile to me, if anything the opposite is the issue. To be honest I'm about done thinking about this kid. He's gone, good riddance.

That’s a cheap Rolex.

More likely a fully blinged Apple Watch. Something that impresses the pooort demographic.

I’m literally already at the phase where I don’t care about Jason anymore, but your post made me think that the funniest thing to ever happen in AFL history would be Fabian sitting in home games just fully decked out in bling. Diamond filled platinum necklaces. Like 3 watches and just chilling.

Get where ya coming from Big T, but on this one I'm looking at us trading in a Sydney type of fashion.

They don't generally spend all trade period trying to eke out Dodoro like returns. They identify targets and their own list re-balancing needs then after a reasonable time of haggling, usually cash out and move on.

We didn't get a Chris Judd like return but honestly think we did 'ok'. Port eventually could've walked away and we could've been stuck with a disgruntled child to be managed for 12 months. And then we'd have been lucky to get a sockful of rat jizz for him as the SA clubs would've sat back and let us sweat.

Port got us as the poker table in the end but I'm not as disgruntled with our conduct on this one.
I think Rawlings trade deals so far wouldn’t be so maligned if we we’re playing finals every year and have pinched a few flags. As it stands we’re back to back wooden spooners on top of a 17th in 2020 and are currently stuck in the midst of our worst run of form in decades. The level needs to lift. We may never have a draft hand like this again.
I understand the club was blindsided by Horne-Francis, I’m just alarmed the club allowed itself to be gaslit and held to ransom by an 18yo kid.
It’s bloody alarm bells. The Brown trade, CCJ trade and this trade we try and see the positives. Make the most of a shit situation. Cut your losses and maximise what you can of your returns remaining, etc.
Well we’re still last, Brown won a flag with demons, Richmond used our pick 19 to get Tarranto to the club and Port just acquired a generational talent for a bargain. So forgive me if I can’t help but feel we’re just here to give leg ups to our rivals. Make the bastards sweat but it seems it’s the supporters who end up looking like fools as we watch on at our trades unfold and try to make sense of it all.
FMD. He just doesn't have the ability to magic us a better deal. Most people here seem to think we can smash every deal by being a hard @rse. If someone else had a #1 pick who'd nominated us, we'd demand to get him for a sack of beans. If we shelled out pick 2 we'd be up in arms. "He nominated us. We can wait a year, he'll be OOC and we can get him for nothing. Rawlings is a fraud."
Negotiating is a skill. There’s an art to this all. I’m not suggesting a Dodoro style approach but I don’t believe Rawlings has it. History will prove me correct too.
I think you’re too focused on how Port faired rather than seeing that this is the best deal we’re going to get, and it’s a good one.

Need to stop treating it as picks and start seeing the players. We’ve gone from JHF & Sheezel to Sheezel, Wardlaw, another first and more. Stuff what port get. We’ve lost nothing other than a rat.

Rawlings was directly asked if Clarko and Viney had input in the deal, and he basically said everything except “no”
Im not celebrating 2 and 3 on the basis that we had 1 & 1 days ago. The future 1st could be anything.
The whole situation as a collective isn’t Brady’s fault I agree. It’s the club. It’s the recruitment team. It’s the appointment of Noble. It’s being had by an 18yo at the draft table. Anyone involved in the club in the last few years that has attributed to us being in our current plight has been sacked, resigned or moved on. Rawlings is the last of those. He must go.

Do you think the club's plan was to trade JHF ?

JHF wanted out. He never embraced our club.

What did you want Rawlings to do ?

Hold JHF to year 2. He is disgruntled, causes trouble at the club and becomes a distraction.

And then after a troublesome year, he walks anyway ?

And what is he worth then?

At least Rawlings did the best he can. He has got picks 2 and 3 this year. And we get another first next year. We can reset and start again.

Rawlings made the most of a very toxic situation, caused by JHF himself.

I am glad he is gone...
See above
All of this would have gone through Viney, Clarko and the board.

You calling for all of them to go too?
One hasn’t started his job yet and the other is working part time.
Clarko and Viney have inherited this crap and it’s their job to fix it.
I have it on good authority that Brady was on show the past week. In a show us what you can do exhibit.
I don’t think it’s fair that Clarko and Todd interfere for the sake of professionalism. But we’re kidding ourselves if we think that we couldn’t have extracted more. Just my opinion and I’ll be the first bloke to put my hand up and admit I was wrong if it turns out these moves were perfect in isolation.

He’s Powers problem now. I’ve already moved on.

I mean I’ll hate him for the rest of his career but that’ll only manifest when he plays North. Hope our blokes treat him like the 90’s blokes treated Buckley.

Does the AFL have a sense of theatre about themselves?

Respectfully, your "on good authority" is 100% wrong and that is FACT!

If Al wasn't happy one single bit with Brady's "role", he'd have been gone weeks ago with the others!

You probably haven't heard a thing Brady has said in his media interviews, especially in regards to the deal being worked over by Clayton, Viney, Clarkson and himself? He's said it numerous times in the last 24 hours.

He should stay just because he got rid of that insufferable, coward, spineless, dickless excuse for a human being. If that.

I think the media know more than they ever published. Robbo very strongly and out of nowhere asking him about loyalty during his appearance on 360, after his Rising Star nomination, sticks out like a ****ing sore thumb now. That was round seven.

I do have one question though (putting 2 and 2 together and possibly getting 5), was the Brisbane game where Noble unloaded also the game where JHF ghosted all post match responsibilities and just went and sat in the bus? Because if so suddenly some of the accusations around Noble suddenly seem a little less unprompted.

Yeh I wouldn't be surprised if some of the slop about Noble being mean to the players came from the hornets nest, or even poort for that matter

Well from what I have been told, Brady is the reason we have P Curtis on our list.
Wasn't a popular choice apparently.
CCJ- well seems no one is lining up for late first rounders this year. Next year a different story. We'll have two firsts.
Sometimes we can be too quick to judge.
We have GW$ about to spend pick 1 on a player we don't require and that has allowed us to get the two best players in the open draft.
We got a fair return for Brown, he aint that good, never ways.
Think Brady is going ok.

Hear hear. Both going onto enjoy long successful careers at our club. It's funny, the decision to stockpile next years futures is an inspired one based on a deep draft pool but the decision to part with future last year in a weak draft pool, to gain a player and a stronger draft hand that results in Curtis, is a stupid one.

Does the AFL have a sense of theatre about themselves?
The AFL will play us against them in a Round 7 game over in SA at 4:40pm Saturday or Sunday on the favourite Broadcaster of the NMFC Foxtel/Kayo
Where all 22 games of the NMFC will be on and Live and exclusive.
I wonder if the NMFC ask Foxtel/Kayo for a rebate for all North Supporters to subscribe next year as our club will be the 1st club in the history not have any games shown on free to air TV starting in 2023.
It’s a real shame Channel 10 and Paramount Sports didn’t put in a higher bid

I think the issue from the outside is that his sole intention in a trade is not to "reem" or "bend them over". To some that is the most important aspect of trading.

His MO is to get a deal done to the club's satisfaction and move on.

His ego is huge, his ability to handle the consistent pressure of being a number 1 pick from the media makes him fragile. Watching that conference yesterday I only saw more of that. And in an absolute echo chamber town like Adelaide with intense supporters at port he better be willing to lift or he will ****ing crumble under the weight of it all
