Nah we had injuries that day. The list is only as good as your 3rd last legitimate game

This is the weird thing about a football forum.

It ain't molecular biology or quantum physics. There isn't some great unseen dark matter layer you need to understand to be qualified to have a reasoned opinion.

The results speak for themselves. We're a lowly side for basically the last 8 years.

There have been 3 mini eras in this period:

2019-2020
2020-2022
2022+

Some staff have persisted over that period, some have not.

As it stands at the conclusion of Clarkson year 2:

-We are a bottom side
-We will finish this year with 8 straight top 10 picks
-We have next to nothing collectively or individually to show for that strong long term draft position
-We have 2 players who would even be discussed for tagging by oppo coaches. A 3rd Colby might join them next year
-We have 1 legit key forward
-We have 2 legit key defenders both of whom are a papercut away from the sidelines at any given moment

I'm curious that there's a club and media angle on how laden with talent we are, but between our selection and development we have a very low number of players who would enter top 30 in the league discussions for their position. It's all mostly hope which is fine, but query our decision making to date and it quickly deteriorates into how you're not Brady or Clarkson, so what would you know?

I understand there was a "reset" in 2022 when Clarko came on and then another setback because of the Hawthorn saga.
By the time we get out of the bottom 2 it'll probably be 6 years down there.
Bottom 4 it'll be 7 years.
And finals is atleast 2026 but more than likely 2027 onwards. How the **** is this a pass?

That's 8 years of bullshit, not spent challenging, but just to get back to finals footy.

As I have said previously and will repeat again, a list rebuild that involves recruiting a cooked Jack Darling because there is no other recognisable key forward on the list, other than Larkey, is simply a fail and a sackable offence.

Yet here we are. Gross ineptitude really.

I'm going to go read the ”Is This Rock Bottom” thread for a little pick me up.
At least there might be something new in there. This thread is just "North are shit and have been for x years" regurgitated endlessly on loop.

All reasonable posts here that are hard to argue with, as bad as it is. But I choose to cling to some hope, in order not to lose any interest in footy which is still left. So my glass half full view is, if we have a good trade and draft period, reasonable luck with injuries and Clarko is finally able to demand something from the players, rather than simply a quarter here or there, we may just be ready to win 8+ games in 2025 and surprise everyone

Imagine if they turned up with an elephant.

Not only would that be a surprise. it would involve an elephant of surprise.

monotone brady needs some public speaking training just to be more engaging to listen to at the very least

not someone i really want talking on behalf of the club or meeting with potential targets

ideally someone with more charisma and conviction, even tho dodo said dumb things he said it with confidence, chris davies from port the same

‘We want to bring in experience without diluting our draft hand’.

checks notes

NMFC: 2 and dregs.

He made that comment when he thought we would have 2, 25 and 44.

We can still trade picks right? I’d imagine there’s still a high likelihood of us splitting pick 2, trading our future 1st or 2nd to this year, or even both. I would be surprised if we finish up with just picks 2 and 60odd when it’s all said and done.

I think it's reasonable to presume that Brady wasn't pulling a "no homerS club" semantic thing when he spoke about not diluting our draft hand. The only way we improve our 2024 draft hand is through futures, which dilutes future draft hands. We could split pick 2 but that is by definition a dilution.

He made that comment when he thought we would have 2, 25 and 44.
Then went out and traded the second of those picks for a 28 y/o undersized HB that can’t defend and who played in a flag 8 years ago cause ‘leadership’, a year after bringing in a 25 y/o undersized HB.

He’s going well.
