The hard thing is that we are asking for funding in a safe Labor seat. From an election campaign point of view, they simply don't need to promise too much for the locals. It then is a matter of how much kudos they would get from the rest of the state and whether it's worthwhile. I can see "our" money very easily being re-directed to get another electorate over the line. From a political strategy point of view, they will be better served pouring "our" $15mill into a marginal seat.
We can only hope there is enough left over after promising everyone else.

I don't understand why the AFL dont just lend us the money. It's not like they don't have it, they have a shit ton of money. Obviouslly a masive issue for us and we can organise some payment over the future to repay them

Because the moment the AFL underwrite the entire project, there will be no chance of government funding again, not just for us, but for other clubs too.

If government thinks that if they can just stonewall these proposals forever, the AFL will eventually just pick up the entire tab, they will play the same game for all time.

These projects have significant community and economic benefits. It's reasonable to expect the government to participate. The game of chicken goes on. Unfortunately for us, we always seem to be the club that gets pushed around in these situations. Reflects our lack of political capital and the market we operate in.

The lingering stink of Pisasale doesn't help either.

The lingering stink of Pisasale doesn't help either.
It doesn't help, and the ALP will be mindful of contributing further to something their rotten apple started. Community services is the platform on which this needs to be sold, as much if not more than the women's sport angle, but while Palaszczuk & Trad are still at the helm, the iron is hot to strike.

More clarification below on where we currently stand:

The Club has secured funding for the training and administration complex.

The funding sought from the Queensland Government is to fund the grandstand and spectator amenities required to host matches – public toilets, seating and shade around the ovals included.

The funding sought from the Federal Government is to fund the broadcast lighting (to enable AFLW matches to be broadcast at night, in prime-time, when it is cooler), and toward the community-accessible pool, meeting rooms and auditorium.

There are considerable cost savings to the Club and all tiers of government by building in a single construction phase – it will also speed up delivery of The Reserve and prevent the disruption of the Club and major events once open.

Extensive site master planning and concept design work has been completed already, but we can’t confirm a definitive detailed design until partner funding is confirmed.

Can’t agree more on the lingering stink of Piscale. Today I say another article how there are more charges against him. His fingers were all over the Springfield deal.
And then there is the Bob Sharpless association with it as well that still upsets me.
The sooner Bob gets off our board and we can get board separation from this whole mess the better.

Going by the charges, Pisasale might've been our best chance of getting something erected.

It's not going to be called 'The Reserve' is it? I wonder if the club is looking at contracting out the naming rights.
Maybe we should hint at calling it -
'Palaszczuk's Reserve' just to get her interested.

We have the ability to sell the naming rights of the facility under the lease agreement which will assist with the financial sustainability of the Club.

He's been sitting on that one for weeks.
If it lasts that long you're supposed to seek medical help...

...I hear.

Now if it was for a new NRLW competition political buffoons of all persuasions would be falling over themselves to throw dollars at the Broncos and posing for air time kissing Wayne Bennett's forehead.

It's time to start questioning the citizenship status of any "Australian" politician kissing the English coach.
