Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Wojo's greatest asset is his speed. How much longer is he likely to have that?

As Quigley flagged earlier (still not sure if he was serious...), but if the Fev deal does go ahead then I'd actually be tempted to drop our first rounder on an estalished polished mid like Burgoyne and go for glory next year. Can't believe I just typed that.

No, I agree with you.

B: McGrath, Merrett, Drummond
HB: Patfull, Henderson, Raines
C: Wojcinski, Black, Brennan
HF: Adcock, Brown, Sherman
F: Buchanan, Fevola, Polkinghorne
FOLL: Clark, Rich, Power

INT: Charman, Staker, Reddan, Hawksley, Johnstone, Hooper, Harding, Selwood, Stiller etc

Add in Burgoyne in that mix, and that team suddenly looks ****ing strong.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

I am feeling slightly sick about this story... I think we're giving up way too much in Bradshaw + Rischitelli.

I always suspected we'd trade Fev for Bradshaw but I thought at most you'd add in a third rounder. I rate Rischi pretty highly and as it stands this looks like a win to Carlton unless they include a decent draft pick as well. I'd be happy with Bradshaw + Rischi for Fev and pick 27 (or a decent young player).
Are you kidding?

If we manage to get Fevola for Bradshaw and Rischa we should take it and run away very quickly. No way they will be adding anything more to that.

If we manage to get Fev without trading away someone like Hendo and keeping pick 12 we have done magnificantly.

I dunno who said it earlier on but apparently Fev has agreed to the deal, its now up to our boys, but you wouldn't think there would be much hesitation now knowing they were throwing them up anyway..

Fev for Braddles and Riska?

Please tell me this is some sort of cruel joke.

Fevola for Bradshaw was discussed before and everyone was relieved when Kelly said we weren't pursuing it at the B&F, now we're apparently going ahead with it and throwing in Riska?

Sorry, but what interest in Fev has there been to justify making the trade even worse for us?

I don't like it. Not one bit.

I just wonder how many goals Fev will kick in 2010? I find it hard to believe he'll kick 90 sharing the goals with Brown. I reckon he's worth an extra 10 goals iver Bradshaw, and we'll get an extra two years out of him. I just don't see that those benefits are worth a player like Rischitelli. Couldn't we have given them a lesser light?

I suspect you rate Rischitelli higher than I do.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Everyone sopping about Bradshaw needs to stop. This is a professional industry and we must do whatever we can to better our list. End of. Great trade if true for the Lions.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

I'm not suggesting Fevola for Bradshaw - but I would think Bradshaw plus pick 39 would've been fairer. Carlton aren't supposed to be getting full value for the guy, he's damaged goods.

I'm happy for you guys to talk me around if it will lessen my stress about this deal.

If Brown made a complete dick of himself at the Brownlow, would you be happy to trade him for Brad Johnson and Jared Harbrow?

If not, just realise that we are screwing Carlton to an equivalent degree.

My objections to Fev are not just because of the Brownlow, it's his on field antics such as diving and sulking when free kicks aren't paid.

He might be a great player, but it really doesn't sit right with me that Bradshaw, who practically bleeds for the club and is a great example of how the game should be played, is being traded for someone who will have no loyalty to the club and well, I just don't like.

In terms of pure playing ability, we win in this trade, but we're fans, our attachment to the club is mostly emotional so of course a lot of us are going to have emotional responses to such a massive change.

Re: Brisbane Lions Trade Talk Thread 2009

Unfortunately this is a business and in a business sense to get Fevola is massive.

If this eventuates like I assume it will we still wont know the full details until the end of the week at least.

Some people may think the Bradshaw and Riska is too much...maybe..maybe not. We dont know how much Carlton will pay towards his salary yet if anything but I assumed it would be a bit. The same would probably go with Monty perhaps? So "BAD" trades on the surface could be more favourable once all the facts are presented.

I for one are glad Vossy wants our team to win a premiership while our stars are still out on the paddock.

If I was offered pick 39 for Rischa and I was list manager I would be very close to accepting that deal. In a normal draft with adequate depth I would almost certainly accept it.

Rischa is a good player, can play a role but I can't see him as great or even very good any time in the future.

You choose to have your opinion and I choose to have mine. If when Black is in his last year and is out of form, I still wouldn't trade him for pick one in the draft. That's how much loyalty means to me and is a big reason why I love AFL so much more than rugby league. I understand that loyalty in sport is diminishing these days but that doesn't change my opinion on the matter of loyalty to players. If Bradshaw requested a trade then I would more than happily trade him for Fevola but if it's not the case then it is sad to see such a great club servant traded out of this club.

IMO loyalty is a factor in creating a great club culture. IMO a unloyal club develops unloyal and not as passionate players. Don't blame a Daniel Rich type of player for heading back home in a few years for bigger bucks, because he knows the club would no doubt happily give him the flick for a benificial opportunity of their own.

Success isn't everything.
