I would definitely be putting Tom Berry on Daniel and just pester him and pressure him all game. They look to Daniel whenever the ball is in their back half and he tends to direct the pace and direction of rebound. Daniel loves to run with ball in hand and open up options upfield. Tom Berry taking away his time and space would be a good thing. Tom has the right amount of fight in him.

This is probably smart and unfortunately Dev Robertson may lose his spot on that basis. Ah Chee played worse, but I can't see us wanting to lose cover down back.

Yep and not happy. Rang the Qld office at Melbourne time 4pm - said they had no idea of what was happening re tickets and they were waiting on Bulldogs - they had no idea when it would happen. Checked my emails around 5.30pm and nothing there - but now checked emails again and one from the Lions that came in at 5.57pm saying you didn’t need a barcode and you could purchase up to 6 ....ing tickets now!!!!!! Just went on and guess what no tickets left. I have no idea why the Brisbane office let non members purchase tickets when this game has such a small amount of tickets even available and a little space for lions members to sit together. Second time ive got screwed over with this system of being able to purchase 6 tickets without any membership code.
Yeah it was abit of shambles really. Soon as got home from work was sitting on computer waiting for email. Email lobbed about 5.51. Had a dentist appointment at 6.00 so just grabbed what i could, south west standing general admission ( even though we are members). Hopefully something pops up for you.

Looking at the stats the Dogs love to possess and control the footy
Their meters gained is only 210 meters more than the Lions.
With 117 more disposals mainly being 94 handballs. That accounts for what the discrepancy should be with that many more disposals
We can't afford for them to have over double the marks inside 50 or we will be in trouble.
Some of the stats are inflated due to the huge win against North, but that is mainly in goals scored
The Dogs still had 406 disposals v Eagles, 466 v Pies & 433 v North
As others have mentioned bring more pressure and that should reduce the Disposal Efficiency %.
That in turn should create more turnovers and less marks inside 50. Easier said than done.

Would like to see us drop one back in defense especially in the first quarter.
Just so the game does not get away from us early, then reassess.

When two good teams play each other the one that plays best wins . It's not complicated. Tactically the Dogs know what we'll be trying to do and we know what they'll be trying to do.

I get the feeling we can play a lot better , they've played about as well as they could have ever hoped.

I can't see us winning the M/F battle with no ruck and them with 5 or 6 hardened players in there but at either end we're bigger and better. So for us it's a matter of getting control of the ball after the clearance if we don't win it. Last week once Rich and Birchall got into their stride you could see our confidence build around the ground. It goes against the grain of how teams are winning this year but we need to absorb what they throw at us and take the sting out of them ,like we did the last 2 weeks.

My big worry is how our forwards kick on this ground if it's windy. I remember Hippy spraying them everywhere 2 years ago.

This. I hope it is not blowing too much,

The stats tell us we will be getting a lot less of the ball than the Dogs

They will possess it, flick it around and look fantastic.

Yet there is one stat that gives me quite a bit of comfort...............the Disposals per goal

Us 26.56Disposals Per Goal Them 26.69

So we need slightly less disposals to kick a goal than they do.

In a nutshell, it's going to come down to our scoring efficiency versus their high possession game.

If we give our forwards enough opportunities and they convert, we can and will win

Everything points to a close match

A million variables in this one but I’m going with a pretty much neutral venue especially as we’ve been ‘acclimatised’..if we can get it forward enough there is big pressure for them with 3 A graders down there.

Probs a midfield job I guess, and I’ll be really happy if Robbo can back up from last week.

Rain might be good for us as I'm a bit worried they will run us off our feet. They are in top form; we are just getting by. They are fast through the backline; we are not. Etc.

I think our forward line will be very problematic to the dogs' backline, and our backline should stand up to the dogs forward line pretty well. The dogs definitely have the edge over us in the middle (deepest and best midfield in the league in my opinion), so if we can manage to neutralize the midfield battle it will go a long way to helping us win. The issue is how do we do that? Need Neale to step up and strong contributions from our other mids.

Why would they run us off our feet? We're clearly running out games well.

If we lose this one, it'll due to us being spanked in the midfield. If we get our forwards enough opportunities, they will smoke the Bulldogs defenders.

only standing I can find as well.
4 kids including 2 smaller ones not easy standing if raining. My 12 year old is short as well :) ha ha
Was thinking a good day trip.. might Kayo instead.
Pity.

I don't mean our stamina to run out games I mean our foot speed coming out of the back line.

Ahhh I'm with you now.

Yeah I reckon it'll come down to how well our mids do. If we can break even and stop their run into their forward line our back line will be fine and our forwards should be the difference.

Maybe I just don't rate the Dogs as high as I should but they seem overrated.

Kangas bad team had an off day on top, would have made anyone look like millionaires last weekend.

Was mentioned on SEN late last night that Lachie may not play....any thoughts/knowledge of that?

Likely the back injury that's been well reported. Tbh I think we'll be better off resting him if he can't run out games.

Ended up getting standing tickets, still annoyed with the debacle of yesterday's tickets

Same boat here. Why I understand reduced capacity hinders tickets somewhat it's still beggars belief that we get told at start of season how many games are in Victoria for Vic Members and then you have to make the trip to freezing Ballarat and then its almost impossible to get a ticket. Wouldn't be many Lions members who got a ticket. So on top of paying for membership we now have to pay to watch them this week.

Also last week when getting tickets you had short time to purchase before you were logged out with a message saying tickets are limited. So I got best available which was good in that it got me in Lions section but right at the back of level 3. Meanwhile half the stadium was empty and there were many good seats available.

The entire process is messy and needs overhauling.

Agree and I'm not surprised if we do rest him, even if its a few weeks........just that I hadn't heard anything until that was said last night.

Yep we are in standing as well so hopefully alot of us in that area.
I know this has been hammered by so many people before but the draw is pretty embarassing by the AFL when we are playing in Ballarat again and in round 5 the bulldogs are playing a home game against Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium.??? Go figure.
