Possibly of the local players who were at the state screenings Lee Spurr, Nate Roffey, Adam Mueller, Steve Brittain, Julian Kannis and Tim Plummer.

Julian Kannis + Nate Roffey and Lee Spur should go to Lions Rookie List. Not sure what will happen now that Beatsonis gone?!?!

I'd say Kannis, Brittain and Spur from that bunch. They're the only ones who did anything at the Carnival. Interesting to see what happens!

Rookie eligibility??
Cut off date is either 31st December 1987 or date of rookie draft - 13th December 1987.
Julian Kannis DOB is 15-12-87.
Others definitely ineligible are Glenn Screech, Anthony Skinner, Jessie White & Hayden Kiel.

Hey, that's very interesting! Would be real bad luck for Kannis who'd be a perfect candidate for Brisbane to develope on their Rookie list. Anybody know the cut-off date for sure?

Anyone born in 1987 is eligible Killer and to me Kannis would be a certainty to be a Brisbane local pick with Roffey and maybe Lee Spurr and Josh Walker chances as well.
I've read what "irish" wrote that the Irish boys aren't counted in the normal Rookie Draft for Brisbane and they go down as International Rookies?? How accurate is this? It would mean Brisbane has 6 picks then.

It is accurate; however Brisbane has never used all nine rookie spots. Six rookies is the standard practice. Therefore at best only three, maybe four (depending on veterans listing) will be selected.

Thanks for that. By the way, your picks in the Rookie Draft for Brisbane were good ones! I was disappointed we didn't get Lucy in the Draft and Hooper was a big surprise! Hopefully we'll see your Rookie picks develope over the next 2 years into dynamite KPP's.

thanks guys...

i wonder how many rookies brisbane will take considering they are keeping 3 plus the 2 internationals. does anyone think they will use the full 9??

I heard the lions offered Steve Brittain a rookie listing but he knocked it back.
Sorry to say this but your statement is CRAP. No club promises spots on any list. Steve may have been invited to train and compete with the other rookie hopefuls for a chance to be drafted as a rookie, but to say he was given a guaranteed rookie listing is a bit fanciful.

oh really..thats interesting

wonder why he knocked it back

who told you this?....steve could have moulded into a fine footballer

I agree with you Irel, it's a bunch of CRAP! the AFL would jump on Brisbane's ass so hard if that happened. Brisbane aren't that stupid are they?? Brittain? what the F$*K! anybody notice him in the Carnival?

But, with Brisbane having the local rookie deal where they get to nominate their rookies before the rookie draft begins, if this bloke was in the allocated zone, they could have told him they would like to/plan on picking him up couldn't they?

Sure, they'd talk to the guys about their interest but that's about it. They can only make concrete offers like that with International Rookies.

So it is really feasible that Brisbane DID go to Brittain and tell him they wanted to pick him up in the draft, and he told them he wasn't interested. Thus making it not a 'wasted pick' for the Lions in the rookie draft?

I'm pretty sure that in the rookie and psd drafts clubs can make what could be called 'offers'. They'd be the 'right we want to pick you up if you are available at our pick' type thing. It's no where near as strict as the national draft, and in the case of the rookie draft, if the kid is in the recruiting zone where the club get's a priority pick, then it's not as if it's draft tampering coz the club has first shot at them anyways.

Yep, that makes sense.
