Posted this in another thread and it will likely get buried so I'm going to post it here in the hope of getting an answer:

Compensation draft picks are awarded to clubs based on where the player was drafted, their age, etc etc.... and their finishes in club best and fairests.

As Rischitelli has been recruited prior to winning the club B&F, how will Brisbane be compensated?

Would the compensation to Brisbane have been higher if he'd have waited until after the B&F to sign on?

Or will the AFL include his B&F in Brisbane's compensation package even though he wasn't technically a B&F winner at the time of recruitment?

They will get a first round draft pick that they can the next drafts use in this draft or any of the next 5 drafts

Prior to the best and fairest count, but his form was still there regardless of whether or not he wins, and would've been a factor in GC's decision to recruit him. That should bump up his value a bit.

Brisbane should request a stay in the compensation formula calculations until after the count.

Would be interesting to see what the reaction would be/what would happen if they requested a stay and he didn't do as well as everyone thinks. Would his value slide?

u would think so

Would have to be the same as Bock IMO.

I still can't believe Port got what they did for Krakouer. Showed glimpses last year, almost zero this year and they'll get a pick in the 20's for him in the next few years.

I agree Port got over the odds but Port's pick might not be in the 20s at all as it will depend on which year they use it and where they finish. Plus with other clubs using their picks (most of which will be earlier) could push Port back until the high 20s low 30s.

He'll be on less money than Bock, wont he?

The age is reporting $500,000 a year which is considerably less than Bock's offer.

i thought B&F finishes dont count

This is where things get cloudy, when the AFL first announced the compensation system they said that they would be taking B&F results into account. But they announced the compensation the Crows & Power would receive before this years counts were held. Which may have been because both players barely got on the park this year, but Riska's a different story in having a career best year and favourite for their B&F. So I'm not sure which way the AFL will swing.

obviously you have no idea what these glimpses contained though, mate.

What - compared to Bock, who is 5-6 years older and has only played an average of 13 games a year over 9 seasons and had an injury interrupted 2010 season.

Third band as well for Rischitelli

GC / AFL really are paying "under the odds" for these players. What would he be worth on the open market? Top ten pick i would have thought.

I think this is great news for the Hawks! If we do lose Brown, surely if Crows get 3rd band for former AA 27 year old and Lions get 3rd band for never AA player, Brown (also a former AA 27 year old) should get the same deal!

Would rather Brown but can live with that pick!

An absolute disgrace IMO that the Lions get a pick before the Crows if they both use their compensation picks this year.

How the F#@K is Risca worth more then Bock?

Risca is a good player but gee some things really make me wonder.

The way this is going we may even get a pick for Josh Fraser instead of having to throw in a box of piss to get rid of him.

Oh, that's right, Risca is going to win the Lions B&F this year.......Interesting he was 1 of 6 only to play all 22 games for Brisbane and the others include, Leuenberger, Rich, Banfield, Staker and Reddan...LMAO talk about a S. Bradbury style B&F:p

Sorry but that last part was completely unnecessary. Rischa has had a great season.

Have you ever thought to consider the fact that Rischa is 24? Rischa is hitting his peak, Bock is on the decline. That is why Rischa is worth more.

Actually he is worth more than Bock because of your atrocious season this year.

Worth slightly more than Bock because Bock is ageing and injured.

Risca had a great year but I don't think he's anything special, a very hard worker, an honest player, and a pretty good team man but if you compare him to some of the players in the midfields of Coll/Geel/StK playing finals at the moment I don't he quite cuts it. Wouldn't have given a top 30 pick for him personally.

He had a great season in a side that finished 13th.

I actually see a similarity between Rischi and Stenglein when he was traded to West Coast.

Stenglein had showed some promise, may even have won a B&F (or runner up) - but certainly wasn't up with the elite midfielders.

He went for a pick in the teens from memory.

Bock is worth far more than Rischitelli, arguing otherwise is borderline delusional.

Probably reasonable compensation, depending on when Brisbane use it they will get a pick in the late teens to early 20s.

If Brisbane had received a first round selection (or "second band"), combined with the possibility that Voss has sent the club to the bottom of the ladder for the next few years, then Brisbane could have been getting a top 5 pick for Rischitelli, which is ridiculous. Although I imagine Voss couldn't wait a few years and would use it straight away.

And who has played more than 10 good games, and is a past AA CHB. Tell me, what has Krakouer done of any significance in the past 4 years? Brisbane should get the same as we did for Bock, Rischa is a gun.
