12 and 25 to Dees for 14, 34 and Grundy

14 to Pies for Adams and 19

14 to Freo for Schultz

Wouldn’t hate it and do feel everyone walks away fine with it. I’d still rather not deal our first trading down that much but I’d be okay with it

That was last year and nothing we’ve said has been let’s trade out of r1, there may be a thought to trading down with the Pies though wouldn’t involve the Grundy trade though

That’s funny if Dockers end up with Melbournes first round in a trade for a ruckmen. Meanwhile Dees have their first round for the ruckman they gave.

Or just mash this into a 4-way

Dees in: 12, 25
Dees out: 14,34 Grundy

Syd in: Adams, Grundy, 19, 34
Syd out: 12, 25

Collingwood in: Schultz
Collingwood out: 19, Adams

Freo in: 14
Freo out: Schultz

Who says no?

I don't understand how Melb (and their supporters) think they should get a better pick for Grundy than pick #27 (what they paid last year)? He's a year older for a start (and he's on the downhill side of the mountain) and his brand has been somewhat tainted this year. Surely that puts his value at around pick #35-40 at best. For Sydney to give up pick #23 in this trade, I think Melb would have to throw in a fair chunk of Brodie's salary (i.e. $250Kish).

Fwiw, I think his value is pretty similar.
  • A year older
  • A year less of that bloated contract to take on :thumbsu:
  • Value slightly diminished after playing some VFL
  • Played pretty well as a #1 ruck this year, and is now injury-free after being traded to us coming off an LTI :thumbsu:
Reckon that all balances out fairly evenly, with maybe a couple of picks of slippage either way. Suppose you need to also factor in that Sydney has much more of a need for him than we did last year, so think Melbourne might hold out for a bit. Not too fussed personally, though.

Desperation check, aisle 3, just past the potato sacks on the right

One club is paying 650k for a VFL ruck who they inherently don't trust, the other club is paying over 600k for an out of position forward flanker who they are balls deep in replacing with a Freo player. Reminder to all, both players are past their prime

Fair value and desperation are obviously in the eye of the beholder.

Nice melt bro

Overs or unders it’s poor form to leak offers and negotiation to the press on day 2 with “massive unders” from a club that paid not much for him 12 months ago….

Not a comment on value but that’s pretty unprofessional from Dees

You are aware there were probably multiple parties privy to this right? Including other teams who may be informed as upstream / downstream trades also?

The only reason it probably bothers you anyway is because it’s an embarrassing offer, don’t put up embarrassing offers and this doesn’t happen.

Bit of finger pointing without evidence here. Nice.

The only embarrassing part of this is how the dees traded Grundy last year.. haha, terrible list decision, your club should be embarrassed. To want more than what you paid is also embarrassing.
As far as the ch 7 story... When your team is a non-Vic team, you get very used to the media pandering to VFL supporters and Vic teams.. its like water off a ducks back for us at the Swans (Can prob talk for other NSW/QLD teams and to a lesser extent WA/SA teams)
