Re: Brownlow Medal

I think the count will come down to whether or not Ablett can make up the lost ground on Swan from the games he missed. Also have a feeling that this is the year Goodes might not poll that well, been a fair bit of scrutiny over the fact he gets 'undeserved' votes and I think the umps might think long and hard before handing over the votes for him this year. I still expect him to be on between 10-15 atm anyway, but O'Keefe has also been excellent.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Black very good tonight. Couldn't pick a Standout from the Dogs. Harbrow, Johnson and Eagleton looked good without looking at stats. Boyd also pretty good in the contests.

Would give Black 2 or 1 probably.
I know that you are biased towards Black ( and so am I after he's been so good to me over the years ) but I watched the game very closely plus the last qtr again this morning and I give him 3 votes. He had his most poss's for 2 years, 4 frees for which is his most this year ( I love frees for in relation to Brownlow votes ). No Dogs stood out at all and I found it hard to give them votes. All of Black's touches were class as well.

My votes for weekend so far :

* Black 3
* Boyd 2
* Cooney 1

* Ablett 3
* Goodes 2 ( awesome game, really caught the eye )
* Corey 1

* Swan 3 ( great to see that others who may have watched gave 2 as I didn't see any )
* Didak 2
* Pendlebury 1

* Vince 3
* Mcleod 2
* Mcglynn 1

* Selwood 3
* Priddis 2
* Harvey 1

I have Black and Judd = leaders with Judd to play today. I thing's for sure, Black has Brown covered at Bris.

* Judd 27 - big watch today
* Black 27
* Ablett 26
* Selwood 25
* Goodes 24
* Hayes 24 - big watch today
* Swan 23
* Goddard 23 ( have been generous with him as a best case ) - ditto

Re: Brownlow Medal

Nice work AUSSIE GUN :thumbsu:
My only criticism is that it seems to sensible after all its the umpires giving the votes and we all know how obscure they can be. :mad:
Out of curiosity who do you have leading after round 11, looking at markets Ablett is dominate however he missed 2 games in this time and there is alot of value outside him if there was to be an upset.
Maybe some money can be made off the unpredictability of their votes? :D

R11 Leaderboard. The St Kilda trio of Hayes, Dal Santo and Montagna could be different. Those three raffled the votes in a few games.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Yeh I think Hayes is excellent value at $41 to lead at rd 11, although unlikely it's over the odds.

The other thing when looking at your counts...how many players do you have receiving votes?

I've found last year when I did it properly I gave votes to too few players...normally it is spread a little bit more.

The hard thing is working out who will receive the 1 vote...when the defender will actually get a vote or when some undeserving player receives one.

Re: Brownlow Medal

Yeah, I often look to give votes to the good players so, as you say, the 1 vote could always be a surprise choice from the umpires. After Round 20 I have 153 players with votes.

172 here.
30 players on 10+
4 players on 20+

If there was any criticism on tallies I've seen on this thread it would be that the leaders have too many votes imo.

Re: Brownlow Medal

I've got 188

I have the Bulldogs having the biggest spread (18 players)

18! I've got Port, Dogs and Saints on 14.

Would be interesting to know what previous years were like. I'd say 195ish.

Re: Brownlow Medal

What about Lions v Dogs?

3. Black
2. Boyd
1. Harbrow/Cooney

???

I'd be more than happy to be wrong - but I think many have overrated Boyd's chances and his vote count. He has been our best player this year - no doubt - but has always been our best when we've lost - and not necessarily as often when we have won. I wouldn't have had him in our top 3 on Saturday.

Votes would possibly go:
3. Harbrow
2. Black
1. any of Cooney, Johnson, Murphy, Aker (match winning goal).
