Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Hodge is coming!!
But has a very questionable voting history.

What was it in 08 when he had a brilliant season ... 2 votes?

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Goddard gave the umpires an almighty serve with the 50m penalty decision in the 4th quarter. Wouldn't be surprised to see him only get 1 or none.

3. Gilbert (his attack from defence set up the win imo)
2. Ballantyne
1. Goddard/Barlow

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Just doing my votes and saw that Gilbert polled 1 vote last year and none in 08. I left him out. Goddard gave the umps two massive sprays aswell.

3 - NDS
2 - Goddard
1 - Barlow

edit: sorry notorious, beat me to it. still gave BJ two though, although he didn't have an opponent all day.

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

This is why it was stupid to be calling it a 2 race horse 3-4 weeks ago only 8 weeks into a season. So much can happen in a month and the race has really opened up to 5-6 players now.

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Leaderboard before Melb/Coll:

M Pavlich 14
C Judd 13
G Ablett 12
M Barlow 11
L Hodge 11
B Harvey 11
J Bartel 10
N Dal Santo 10
B Goddard 10
L Hayes 10

Really close for mine now... :thumbsu: Exciting.

Fair call. All of a sudden Gazza and Judd have stopped polling. Hodge has clearly had the best month.
I reckon that Gazza is in a spot of bother. He keeps playing well but not standout games. There will be great value in the Quinellas if you leave him out.

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Do you guys think that the push and shove at the end of the St Kilda V Freo game will influence the votes?
Everyone seems to think Goddard will poll well, but he tends to give the umpires a spray and act like a tool on the field. He was in the thick of the action at the end when players were pushing and shoving and I was thinking that umpires will take that into account. Because after all we dont know the criteria that umpires follow when giving votes, however we do know that the medal is all about the FAIREST AND BEST player.

Only gave Goddard 1 vote. He was giving it to the umpires all day, especially after the Morabito 50m penalty.

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

If Montagna pleads guilty, is he ineligible for the brownlow?

His offence is over 100 points reduced below due to an early plea.

I am pretty sure he is still eligible because the original offence was only 80 points, he had 45 carry over points making it 125 which can be reduced to 93.75 with an early plea. As the original offence was under 100 points, he should still be eligible.

Re: Brownlow Medal 2010

Just out of interest, here's how this weeks votes went going by the Champion Data Player Ranking scores. Just the three highest individual CPDRS from each game (running tallies are in parentheses), with no consideration for the scoreline. I also included a progressive leaderboard created by the same method too.

Despite the CDPR being the best all-round statistical measurement of a player's impact on the game (due to all the factors that go into it), obviously statistics aren't everything, so make of that what you will.
