Problem is we have to do the GWS deal first so they don't hold out for more.

The Giants have kind of painted themselves into a corner trading down to get pick two. They have b*gger all picks left to pay for their academy boys.

They'll get something off Saint Kilda for steele, But after that the cupboard is pretty bare. Two more picks in the 20s from us gives them the points they need.

Bombers are into Stewart aren't they? That helps them if we don't get something done.

Gold Coast will be dead keen to get pick five off us. It removes any chance of a bid being placed on bowes before pick 8. It also allows Gold Coast to use picks four, five and six on best available, and then select bowes with the points from a few second round picks.

We already know that Fremantle will use pick seven on English.

We can enter into an arrangement where we agree to give pick 5 to Gold Coast, but only if they tell us who they will select with pick five and six (Or if they agree not to take the player that we want with any of picks 4, 5 or 6 - wink wink). That way we will know if the player we want will still be available at pick eight or not.

Gold coast would pay massive overs for pick five. massive overs.

No it doesn't. What if Brisbane bid on him with #3? It's very likely too given he's from QLD...

Bull****. A contract is a contract. If you're not prepared to honour it don't sign it. And this is serious money here not chump change. The only one looking bad in all this is Gibbs himself; says a lot about his character. Hold firm SOS: trade Gibbs at our price or no deal.
With respect, that is utter bullshit. A contract only exists as long as all parties abide by it. When that stops happening it's terminated. This is sport, not ****ing armed services or some shit. Relax.

They won't. I'm sure that conversation has already taken place.

Even if they do Gold Coast can match the bid and use pick four on him. They then use picks five and six on best available.

Brisbane would in effect be costing Gold Coast pick four. They would be expecting absolutely no favours in return for the next 10 years of drafting. Again I'm sure that conversation has already taken place.

Believe it or not drafting and especially trading relies on goodwill. Essendon have one of the worst reputations in the business. See also last year when they bid on Silvagni. The dons have burnt more than a few bridges along the way

Mate I see Stewart as steak knives. I'm talking two 2nd round picks for Pickett and Marchbank.

Stewart is steak knives, as is severely injured yet to debut Pickett. No getting sucked into giving up actual assets for these guys.

I'm happy to use a second rounder on each. The upside is worth the risk of a pick in the 20s. I'm not happy repeating the debacle of two years ago and downgrading pick five. Pick five is too valuable to throw away. Pick five is the sweet spot for where the best player in the draft usually lands

Pick 6 or better should be the price the crows have to pay us for Gibbs because that is the compensation we would have received from the AFL if we hadn't have done the right thing by Bryce and signed him to a long term contract and instead left him as a free agent.

If only it worked that way. Unfortunately, we can't expect that from Adelaide.

3 way deal could suit

Gibbs & Blues 2017 2nd rounder > Adelaide
13, 16 & Marchbank & Pickett > Carlton
Crows 2017 1st rounder, #25, Tuohy pick > GWS

Adelaide: In: Gibbs, Blues 2017 2nd rounder. Out: #13, 2017 1st rounder
GWS: In: Crows 2017 1st rounder, #25, Tuohy pick. Out: Marchbank, Pickett, #16
Carlton: In: #13, #16, Marchbank, Pickett. Out: Gibbs, Tuohy, 2017 2nd rounder, #25

Leaving 5, 13, 16, 2 x 3rd rounders for the draft.

I think the Giants get reamed a little bit there.

heh. The TV recognise the word reamed

Doesn't matter how many ways you post it, 2017 first round pick won't happen.

Now that's more like it! I really like this idea!

Works for all parties and it's actually quite realistic. Send to SOS please.

Wasn't that because his father was ill?

Legit reason if it wasn't an excuse to play alongside his brother.

Brisbane also paid up for it.

I know Dayne is younger but he's not the same calibre as Gibbs either.

I'd still rather Bryce was uncontracted and we get band 1 compo for him. Pick #6 sounds a LOT better than #13 and a 2nd rounder.
Beams was 24, an All Australian and best and fairest winner amongst other media awards. Not sure how he's not in the same calibre as Gibbs if not better. Collingwood received a first rounder, second rounder and crisp. I don't have a clue what silvagni is asking for but everyone here is expecting a lot more than what Collingwood got

Doesn't matter how many times you repeat your opinion, we will continue to discuss what will work for us on OUR board. Go away.

You're making the mistake of saying all first rounders are equal.

Pick five which Collingwood got for beams is not the same as pick 13
