Buckley 3 - How can you not be excited about Buckley. Ask Eddie Buckley is not exciting as Hird or Voss have been on their day, in fact no where near. Think back a couple of years when Pies were fav's on Anzac day and Hirdy kicked 5exciting goals. I can even recall Buckley switched play in defence only to have Hird steal the mark and goal.
Hird 5
Ability to hurt opposition through possesion
Voss 5
Buckley 4 - Has long had the best disposal in the comp 5 No I can guarantee you Hirds short pass is more accurate than Buckleys. Hird does not waste a disposal. Buckley used to over kick in his early days. Ask any Pie supporter.

no great pies skippers??ARES said:Greatest Magpie skipper ever 5 Magpie skipper possibly, is/was there anyone else? but currently still inferior to Voss & Riccuito as skipper!
depends on how ur excited, if u like a tricky goal from an impossible situation go HirdARES said:Ability to excite
Buckley used to kick the ball too hard, he is and always has been a much better user of the ball then the other two.ARES said:Ability to hurt opposition through possesion

Probably fair considering Voss was the captain of the best team of the modern eraARES said:Respect from opposition players

manmountain Bottom line. I think Buckley is the best player I have seen in the last decade. Whether any other bozo agrees or not makes no difference to me at all.[/quote said:I think we all can agree that in the last decade, (which dates back to 1996) Wayne Carey was easily the best player. Is that a bozo statement manmountain?
JLC said:He came back to lead his team as opposed to having a drawn out soap opera about whether he was going to retire or not.
Now he is leading his team back to the top where they belong.

It would be much harder dominating as an individual when you're playing in a team of champions like Brisbane 02,03,04 like Voss did.
contested possies is interesting as often key forwards like tredrea, richo, a.rocca are in the top tenLions43 said:They're all champions but the thing that sets Voss apart from the others as an individual is his courage. Sure the other two are courageous but Voss is the very embodiment of courage. Go to

and review the contested possessions for each player over the years. Voss is an absolute mile in front. All three have great skills and are fine leaders but Voss is the one out of the three of them that can constantly be found (still) on the bottom of packs extracting the ball.
I suspect it is this attribute that generally sees Voss win this argument hands down on these boards (when you exclude the biased views of Collingwood, Essendon and Brisbane supporters) like me .
u miss the pointTheBrownDog said:Haha, I love the twisted logic here. Apparently winning a flag means nothing but almost winning does.

voss was the captain of an absolutely magnificent team that had stars in every position, leppa, c.johnson, m.michael, scott bros, pike down back
aker, lappin, black, ashcroft, power thru the middle
lynch, brown, bradshaw, mcrae, white up forward
that team is absolutely miles ahead of anything collingwood had in 02-03, yet the pies being led by buckley almost stole a flag from the almighty brions
