2006 preseason starts tomorrow.

Yup.

Jonathan Brown is negotiating his contract with Brisbane, doggies need to pursue him aggressively. Or someone. Anyone! Give us a couple of big forwards and they're a top 4 team.

Some really aggressive trading at years end for big attacking forwards could make them a great team, their midfield is terrifice and the backline goes alright. (I love Harris and everything he does. I want to have his babies)

i see a lot of upset supporters on this board, but i don't think we should be really. of course darcy will be a huge loss, but in all honesty if he played the whole game today it would have been a totally different game. as it was, minson became the sole ruckman and rawlings the secondary. uve got to remember minson has only playhed a handful of games and rawlings is by no stretch a ruckman. also the game plan implemented at the start of the game would have revolved around darcy being in the ruck and going forward in bursts, his injury would have turned the plan upside down.

geelong look a top four team, and i thought the efforts from some of the younger blokes were great today. in just 6 rounds we have already seen three players really stamp their authority on the game.

gilbee best on ground today. amazing skills and really looked a complete player. cross once again played out four quarters of solid footy racking up near 30 touches. cooney while he was much quieter second half played a great first half and showed his true class.

minson keeps getting better, and now with darcy out he will be thrown into the deep end. in the long run this will benefit us, and on the plus side you would expect walsh to play his first game next week and that'll be something exciting to watch.

rawlings as well played a good game, and it was great to see him having a real go at it. after he kicked his first goal looked like all the weight had been lifted off his shoulders and his next looked filled with confidence.

robbo should play his first game for the season next week, and you never know eade may have another surprise in store. try to keep positive because there are some good signs there for us

It wasn't the worst performance in the world. We're still a bottom three side in a rebuilding year, but how quickly do we return to old habits when challenged? That's the problem i have.

And Robert Murphy? Where was he?

Murphy was all right, nothing flash but he was about.

Dogs played quite well today, the backline played very well and shut down their big names. I'm just more annoyed about a couple of the home town decisions and the doggies CRONIC bad luck.

Darcy won us the game against Adelaide. No doubt!! The loss of him for the year is the blow we didn't want to have. We don't have quality talls to replace him, and I sure as hell wouldn't bring Walsh in for his first game against Brisbane. He would be eaten alive by their defence.

I would "rest up" anyone with a ningling injury for next week, cause we will be BELTED by 15 goals.

So who's the early rumour for pick 1 this year?? and is he a tall???

Gilbee has overtaken his more highly rated counterparts in my opinion in Murphy and Giansiracusa ...
Murphy is talented and he seems a laid back person in real life, and to me he plays that way as well, a little too laid back

Minson is gona be a terrific Ruckman for us , Cooney was very good for most part, but not too much else to be overly happy about.

Looks like Eagleton may miss, and obviously Darce, and I really think we gota get Power out of the side, too many passengers in the team like himself...

Surely we need some more players who can have a real dip, I dont know all the nest Candidates to come in but Robbins surely has to be one of them for us, has a real dip everytime he plays, if fairly tough for a little fella and has great speed.

For my mind Power and even Brad Murphy represent no value to us at present.

Lastly, Rawlings represents no value to us anywhere on the field accept as a leading Full Forward. Thats what we initially recruited him for and thats where we may as well leave him otherwise get him outa the team.

On his debut for us, i was there and he kicked 7.5 so he is capable of decent returns, he is like our version of Kent Kingsley i'd say , so we may as well have him there as a tall leading target instead of sitting on the bench, gives us something to aim for

Don't get to see the Dogs often on FTA TV, so interesting for me to check out any improvement since Round 1.

As the TV commentators said, I thought the backline was pretty good. Hargrave was good and I was amazed at McMahon getting in there. Ditto impact of Gilbee throughout. Minson is comng along well.

No forward line didn't help us, and at times poor tackling by midfielders.

Eade is clearly having some impact on some of the players.

Despite the result, I disappointed I couldnt get there, no tickets left apparently. They really should have played this game at Docklands and save Kardinia for Cats Vs. Interstate teams.

I thought the backline stood up well in the second half considring how fast the ball was coming back into the Geelong forward line. We could have easily been beaten by 10 goals or more.

Now if we can get some marking half-forwards to stand up.

Listening to Rocket in interviews he seem to have different game plans for each game.

I don't think this year is over yet as we have a good exprienced coach unlike 2003 when Granty done his knee. I think Rocket will find a way to overcome this hurdle.

I am almost certain that I was the ONLY dogs supporter in the new stand today - quite an interesting experience, got a lot of weird looks and snide remarks!!

Bulldogs Are Gone In 2005

Bulldogs have no chance now of makeing the top 8 now luke darcy is gone we have no one to play forward! whats the go now draft picks again?

Re: Bulldogs Are Gone In 2005

id love to see us win another 8 to 10 games but i dont belive we have the caddle to do so

we need to bring in young talls such as Walsh, Willams, Wight to try and get some tall timber working in the side for 06 07

yet again we wouldnt mine some high pivks to try and get a Roughhead Frankling tall timber in to the side
now that we got 10 to 14 midfielders in the side we need more talls in the next draft

Welcome!! Their is plenty of room on this bandwagon so jump on. Had my head chewed off for suggesting this months and months ago, well how perspective is starting to change. Let's call it the DOGUPYA bandwagon, all who are not interested in mediocrity, close enough is good enough, at least we are competitive bulls...., come aboard!! Out with rubbish, trade tall, draft tall and lets see in 2 years time, if my blood pressure can sustain another 2 years of this crap!!

All aboard, lets see who jumps on will be interesting. Should start a thread for this but cant be assed.

get a DOGUPYA

So who actually went to the game today?
What did you think of the new stand?

I got into the ground about 10:20, got a free seat, there was still plenty. People were still getting a seat at around 11:45, remembering that this was a 1:10 start. Nowhere near the crush we were warned about.

I thought the new stand looked terrific, would be a great place to watch from, elevation and close to the play on that wing. Doubt I'll ever get to sit in there though.

I was lucky enough to grab a seat in the genaral admission area. Only doggies supporter was fortunately (or unfortunately) sitting beside me.
Frustrating game of footy. I believe when Darcy went down, they did not believe they could win.
Went back to playing negative footy, we need to discover a few kpp by the end of the year.
