What is wrong with what Rohde said. For two weeks and first two days of trade week they didn't agree on a player. That is a start that all fans would like to know they are at least on the same page.

Then he says its not done as Port has to come to terms with the player. He never said done deal!!! If Campbell Brown wasn't pissed off and Mal Brown didn't talk to Brad Hardie it wouldn't have come out who the player was.

If Rohde made no statement, then it would still have come out because Brown spat the dummy and his old man told his media mate who went public with the story.

I for the life of me can't see what was wrong with what Rohde said.

until anything was confirmed signed sealed and delivered, i would have said nothing....but thats just me...

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

All Hawthorn are doing is wasting our time.

What about the reports that Williams asked us for pick 9 + Birchall + Brown.

Maybe it is Williams and PA that are wasting time?

I have said all along that Pick 9 + Thorp was about the right deal.

Its only Wed, don't panic until its at least 130 pm on Friday

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

I agree....better to say nothing until it was SIGNED, SEALED & DELIVERED!!!....then both clubs advise the media at the same time!!

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

Does any1 think there's a chance that Hawthorn know Brown will reject the offer, but hold up trade week until the last day to get Port in a desperate deal or no deal?

I do not think it is a chance that is what is happening. Hawthorn has has plenty of time to sort out what it would cost to get Shaun, after all they supposedly courted him. They are banking on Port saying to them no deal.

This is one deal that should have been ready to go Day1.

Now it should be open to all other clubs to bid for him. It is quite obvious that Hawthorn do not really want him and are not willing to pay the price.

LOL...u cant force a player to change not only clubs but state in this case.....all 3 parties have to agree!!

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

Jeff Kennett is full of shit. He didn't rule out Port approaching Brown, but if that were to have happened then Hawthorn would have had to have offered him as to change clubs the Hawks need to have sanctioned the trade. Brown may not go, but he was certainly offered.

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

I'd rather deal with essendon and go for pick 10 & 16 then **** around with hawthorn for pick 9 and a crap reject player. Brown or nothing really, trade with essendon if they wanna a trade.

So you think Hawthorn should just accept the price Port Adelaide put on Burgoynes head?

Hopefully this turns out like the Jay Cutler saga in the NFL where he was put up for trade, he didn't want to leave but by the end of it all he left because he was so pissed off he was offered up for trade.

No but it is now apparent that Hawthorn did not realise or did not want to see that Burgoyne comes at a price and any Hawthorn supporter, player or club official who did not realise this has their head buried in the sand.

Your lucky we're not Collingwood, they offered pick 30 for Fev. I understand what your saying but pick 9 is a descent starting point, and your probably looking a Cunnington, Rohan etc there. Either of those + Lewis/Birchall/Shoenmaker > Burgoyne is the reality. Considering he walked out you should probably recieve slightly under value as opposed to slightly over. Just my opinion.

Well obviously he was going to walk out, what club would trade a star player with no current offield issues? It just doesn't happen, it would be like Sydney offer Goodes up for trade.

Pick 9 for Brown or Shcuey I am happy with.

Shcoey was pick 16 last year and has played one season, so saying pick 9 and Schoey is over priced is a bit off IMO.

Please let this deal be done. personal I would rather Brown. Brown and Surjan in our defensive third would be fantastic and hopefully he can still keep his Footy Show commitments as some exposure on there would be great for our club!

Sounds like Brown is going nowhere, this is just a piece of Hawthorn trade bait bullshit, another day wasted and it means any other trade we want to do is on hold or at worst lost as the player/pick is snapped up by somebody else because we can't make any commitment.

And the AFL reckons they have worked out a fair compensation system for the uncontacted players the GCFC pick up. Bullshit. If so they could fix up the rubbish of trade week with those criteria evaluations applied to trade week.

Agree. Port have the lesser hand in the trade deal. Not saying they shouldn't get a fair trade, but other clubs have all the bargaining power.

You seem to be assuming he has literally just "walked out", when in fact from all reports he is working with Port to get a trade acceptable to both done.

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

FFS. Pick 9 and Dowler. It's ****ing easy. Port win, Hawthorn win, Burgoyne wins and Dowler wins (doesn't have to compete with Franklin and Roughead anymore) and Kennett's whingeing about not wanting to lose premiership players doesn't affect Dowler. Why can neither club see this?

And TBH, if Brown doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here. Most of his value as a player comes from effort, if he's playing for a club that he doesn't want to be a part of then who says he'll try as hard for us as he did for Hawthorn?
