Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn? (part II)

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

You seem to be assuming he has literally just "walked out", when in fact from all reports he is working with Port to get a trade acceptable to both done.

Except that he won't answer his phone.

I wonder how much pressure shaun is feeling now. If a trade isn't done he likely won't be going to hawthorn.

May be another Ryan O'Keefe (if he changes his mind - unlikely). Hope shaun doesn't mind playing for Sydney or the Demons.

Pretty simple for me, give Campbell Brown til the end of the day to accept a move to Port, if he refuses, first thing tomorow morning completely rule out dealing with hawthorn and put every other AFL club on notice that Shaun's available.

Shaun won't answer his mobile phone for almost everyone, so it's impossible for some of the clubs to talk to him. We had to get his older brother Peter to ring him, which has made this a very long process.

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

Word around that Hawks don't want to trade Dowler.

The only want to trade the players they don't want anymore.

They're that selfish. Is he even in their 22 as of now?

Really? Yesterday I heard that they were offering pick 9 and Dowler or Muston, although that could've just been a Bigfooty rumour.

Forget Campbell

Hawthorn’s Campbell Brown has declined an approach by Port Adelaide to join the South Australian club as part of a trade for Power’s Shaun Burgoyne.

Port Adelaide raised their interest in the versatile defender with Brown’s management at Elite Sports Properties, however, Brown expressed his desire to stay at Hawthorn and he re-affirmed his commitment to the Club in talks with Club officials today.

Brown has already rejected Ports offer.

This saga is frustrating for both clubs I can imagine. For starters, if the rumours were true and Brown was offered in this deal, how fair is this on him? He would have 24 hours to decide whether to sell up and shift to Adelaide leaving friends and family or stay with a club that "doesnt want him"...24 hours to make this life and career changing decision, BS!

Trade week needs to be longer, why does it only go for one week. Should be a window of one month for mine.

Remember those days when Port were the off field masters? How everyone marveled out how we managed to always gets the best out of things?

Yeah.

Ok, so at least we know there was truth that Hawthorn offered us Campbell Brown. Now that we aren't getting him, **** them and put him open to the highest bidder. Smug bastards want their cake and to eat it too.

Do the right thing by Port Shaun and open yourself up for bidding.

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

FFS. Pick 9 and Dowler. It's ****ing easy. Port win, Hawthorn win, Burgoyne wins and Dowler wins (doesn't have to compete with Franklin and Roughead anymore) and Kennett's whingeing about not wanting to lose premiership players doesn't affect Dowler. Why can neither club see this?

And TBH, if Brown doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here. Most of his value as a player comes from effort, if he's playing for a club that he doesn't want to be a part of then who says he'll try as hard for us as he did for Hawthorn?

100% agree, you would think that would be fair deal for all involved. However in reality i do not think that Williams would take that. He has so far asked for pick 9 + Lewis/Birchall/Shoenmakers/Brown. All of those are way over the odds, he is just asking for too much.

You would think we would have to meet somewhere in the middle of pick 9 + Lewis/Brown and pick + 9 Tuck/Morton. Which you would say Pick 9 + Dowler is fair as you potentially get 2 x 10 year players.

I think this underlines why Choco told players at their end of season review that they may be traded. If the Brown offer is true then I wouldn't blame him for spitting the chewy if he wasn't forewarned. As Cortez alluded to it's a bit rich for a player to be given a day's notice that his club want to ship him interstate.- Not reflecting on Hawthorn's methods, just the system that this is played out in. Such is the world of proffessional football.

I don't think he'd take it if you offered it in 10 minutes time, but I'm about 99% sure that if it was 1:30 on Friday and that was the best available offer, which could happen, we'd take it.

Hawthorn offered us Brown which seemed fair but Brown has declined our offers so it is back to the trade drawing board. I still reckon we wont be able to do a trade and he will end up at Melbourne through the PSD.

Re: Burgoyne nominates Hawthorn

Who is left at hawthorn that they're willing to give up that port would be interested in?

Seems a bit late in the game for port to approach brown now.

What have the 2 clubs been doing these last 2 weeks?!

So Hawthorn offer up a player they know won't move in the attempt to either force us to accept shit, or if that fails, claiming the moral high ground that we were the unreasonable ones.

Add in trading for 2 or 3 spuds. Wow Peter Rhode, I'm so glad we've got you on board. Those Port supporters who don't throw themselves off a bridge in despair will be getting pissed before the draft, as 99% are sure you'll piss our picks up the wall, so why should you be the only one acting like they are plastered?:(

Article on Hawthorns website says Port approached Brown's management, but Brown said No.

Port is not allowed to contact a contracted player without their club's consent.
ie Hawthorn were prepared to trade Brown if he was willing to go.

Hawks have added Gibson and want to add Burgoyne to their list.
Who are the two current starting 22 players that will lose their spots?

I have a hunch that Campbell may find his opportunities seriously reduced next year and beyond.
Wonder if the fans will get up in arms about that?

Does that mean clubs aren't allowed to contact their managers either?
