rochford vultures - 0 votes.... 2nd in goal kicking by 1 goal.....
he kicked a few bags and to not get a single vote is odd. seems like winning a league b+f is losing its prestige??..... looks good on paper and the winners are deserved winners, but umpires seem to go on players reputations not on what they saw that day!

Whilst I agree with the 2 of you that these players probably should've received more votes, the reality is this is a midfielder's award. Cracker played onball all year and for the life of me I can't work out how he didn't manage to poll one vote. Perhaps he needs to revert back to the blonde tips to attract some attention. Or as Pinto suggests, a quick shake of the umpire's hand might help his cause.

Exactly!!! I said this ages ago in a post about Keleher. While he is a good player, his reputation gets him votes and is why i think he's over-rated.
You've gotta wonder whether the umpires really think about the votes during the game or just sit back at the end and think of the players they know....or can remember. The captain or the bloke that says "Well umpired today" is always a good chance. But as i said before, what else can we really expect from the clueless C grade umpires...?

Couldn't help yourself having a go at Keleher, has more guts than the rest of your side put together.

DId you see his performance in the state game?

DId you see his performance in the state game?

Yeah i did. And as was just mentioned he was ordinary. As was the entire team. And as i said when the team was announced, a decent VFL 2's side would have pulled that sides pants down without a worry in the world.

And i'm not having a "Dig" at Keleher. From what i've seen and heard he is a ripper bloke and don't have a bad thing to say about him. Plus he's a decent player. I just think he's overrated by many and his reputation gets him plenty of accolades. He's not the first person to be treated like this and he certainly won't be the last. I've watched him on 5 occasions now so i've got a reasonable understanding on the topic.

Everyone agrees Kelleher & Ritterman are terriffic players. What blows people away is the Rochford, Dukes and Deveraux returns in the B&F. Kelleher got 3 votes against us in Round 4, he would probably admit he was solid at best. The reality is that whilst there will always be strong opinions we cannot deny umpires have favorites and this possibly will never change.
Keith Greig and Daniel Kerr are great examples of umpires seeing there talent before everyone else, won't happen in the Amateurs. The umpires play it safe, and it doesn't hurt to be captain IMO.

Keleher only got 2 BOG's but polled in 11 games pretty consistent.Anyhow who cares we won the flag.

in a way thats ok - cos now you can pi$$ off to another thread and we don't have to read ur crap anymore! btw - those photos that were put up are great - they were really clear, and really brought out the poo in the brown and blue of ormond ;)

Hi, hi I'm Chief.

Absolutely not after being flattened by him a couple of years ago. I have been heard to say some very uncomplimentary things as a result. Hence the shot below of him looking wistfully at the other boys playing while he wasn't. Karma.

He still regrets that incident. One of the worst things he has done.

Spewing that he SHOULD HAVE HIT YOU HARDER.

I'm surpised he had his back to you after your past history!

I heard a rumour that a club in C section had been relegated for paying players....Is this true? Can somebody confirm?

Not quite correct.

Peninsula in D1 have been relegated after it transpired their coach in 2006 pulled the boots on and played the second half of that season whilst still receiving coaching payments.

Prahran remain in D1 as a result and Peninsula went down.

Had nothing to do with C section.

With all due respect, you don't know for sure that Prahran has been kept up as this hasn't yet been confirmed by the vafa executive.

Similiarly, you don't know for sure that there isn't a C section side under investigation, as you are not on the vafa executive.

scribe, no final VAFA show?

We did one, and for some reason it never made it onto the website. Pretty sure it wasn't too long, but Joe from the VAFA didn't keep his end up. ;)

Phil - yes I'm not on the VAFA executive, but it would seem a huge coincidence for the D1 investigation to have recently concluded and there also be one into a C section team too, don't you think? Jake17 referred to a team being relegated - and Peninsula is the first one to suffer this fate for almost 10 years.

Likewise, Prahran being retained in D1 for 2009 would seem the logical outcome following Peninsula's relegation.
