Hey boys,
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are about the 2009 season in C grade. Personally, i reckon we can bounce back and at least go one better and make it to B grade by 2010. I'll be back in action after a season out which will play a massive part in us going one better. Also, we'll teach a couple of our defenders to play on their men so we won't have a repeat of what happened on Saturday. Perhaps a few other recruits and getting our feral supporters to shop up on game day and support us cos we're trying our best wouldn't be a bad idea either. Give us your predictions of what will happen with with the 6 teams remaining in C grade, Beaumaris and Caulfield Grammar coming down from B grade, and Bulleen Temp and Old Geeling coming up to join us boys again from D1.

Cheers, The Derminator

Cant say anything for the teams coming up, and it is far far far etc too early for prediction, but Beaumaris and Caulfield are both very young , and both with good u19 sides, so i imagine they can only improve from this season

Not funny. When are you Hampton people going to grow up? If you boys had half the heart Derm has you might've won a flag last year.

i still think we were dealt with badly by umpires in the first final and should still be playing cos we were better than hampton and ormond. but we're not and the ajax football club will come back stronger and harder for 2009. expect the oakliegh team to be good again too. they did very well to be in the game to win last week even if it was a bit lucky with the decisions of the umpires. they showed again last week they are very good.

Last time each C SECTION 2009 were in C SECTION finals

AJAX- 2008 4th

OAKLEIGH- 2008 3rd

PARKDALE- 2006 3rd

MAZENOD- 2007 4th

MHSOB- 2004 PREMIERS

MONASH- 2004 3rd

BEAUMARIS- 2005 R/U

CAULFIELD- 2004 R/U

OLD GEELONG- 1999 3rd

BULLEEN/TEMP- 1992 R/U

Goldy,

who will take the reigns at the Jackas this year. Is powelly going again or will a big name be brought in?

Cheers

Guru

PS - i chose to ignore your rubbish about the umpires. A better explanation is that perhaps this group of exceptionally talented players (best midfield in c section by a mile) can't handle the pressure of finals?

Must get a flag in the next 2 seasons or the window will be closed - Lewski, Ritterman, routman - etc cant keep going forever - I know they are not that old but continually losing big games (GF 06, relegation game 07, semi final 08) will take it's toll mentally

POWELL GONE !!!!
Jackas will regroup and come back harder....[if players stick together.]
Club still looking for suitable coach.... he will need to be extra strong to control some of the egos at Ajax... players thought they were better than they are and they fell apart in the big game that counted...

Mazal, I am lead to believe that a very high profile coach has shown interest in the AJAX coaching role, will be a very big appointment if they can get him!!

IT IS TRUE !!!!!
but .... the coach would need big change in attitude by some Senior players if Ajax is to bounce back ...from what I have heard, he would get that commitment....

Which team, who will be playing C Section in 2009, had 30+ players away for three nights on their end of season trip, and failed to trouble the scorers?

Interesting choice that one. A bit like Kevin Sheedy coming back and coaching Casey Scorpions.

Best of luck to AJAX under Bernie's wise tutleage.

:thumbsu:
Thanks Scribe .... a good coach is always a good coach ....
Interesting to see how Ajax players react to his style...

mazal - Excuse my ignorance old chap. But can you please give me a run down on his playing/ coaching resume?

Much appreciated.

DM

Vast experience as successful coach of DLS Senior Premierships and then went to Essendon AFL.... not sure of his playing days....
He is well known in Amateur circles ,..... top bloke and perfect for Ajax:thumbsu:

Mazal, you make it sound as if this bloke can walk on water, well he better be able to because your club needs a miracle. You lost Bloomy to North Broken Hill, you cant lure Taft, Tivendale doesnt even know where Albert Park is and Poyas, well he is another story.

Before his De La, Essendon and Springvale days (and also later Therry's A-Grade days?) Bernie Sheehy played 117 games for NOBs between 1965-1974.

2nds captain/coach and 1sts assistant coach from 1970-1972.

In short, been round footy a long, long time.

Will be happy to grovellingly apologise in the unlikely event this particular piece of off-season wishful thinking has any substance.
