As a new supporter to the VAFA I am looking forward to seeing a few Reds games in 2006. Who are the teams to beat? I have heard NOBS, St Bedes/Mentone, Old Paradians are the ones to watch.

I know it is early days but can someone give me a rundown of the teams in C section? I will definitely book in the RED/NOB Cup as a must see next season! :)

The others are:

Old Camberwell
Parkdale Vultures (ranking highly in the "Ammos Worst Jumper Award")
Hampton Rovers
Monash Blues
AJAX

NB - Due to ground unavailability, I hear AJAX are playing home games at HQ until the end of June 2006. Lots of C Grade action at Sportscover next year!!

Gee....lucky C Grade!

Biggest Game of the year, Mentone vs Parkdale, the derby that everyone have been waiting to watch, expect a thousand or two at that game!

I think St Bedes will cruise to the premiership, meeting NOBS/St Pats in the final.

Player to Watch Sam Ansty would be Evens money on the League B & F, absolute star that if playing in A grade would win that league B & F, if he pulls on the Navy, Gold, Red and Blue this year will be the best player in the ammo's, in all grades.

Dont forget about Fitzroy Reds! They will be up there next season! Do agree that St Bedes sound like the team to beat! Dont know about NOBS yet.

Where are the goals going to come from FF007. I understand that SMC has nicked off again looking for more coin. He must be a quality bloke to win the B&F, and the leave for money.

Minton-Connell, was a B grade player, there is a big step up from C --> B, NOBS current list and the merger with St Pats should ensure that they are at least a top 5 team, i dont really know where they will finish, just an estimate on last yrs form.

But i do think St Bedes will be the force. The reason for relegation was a massive turnover in personel the year before, of which 80% went overseas, lets not forget they were one kick away from A grade the yr before, with these players returning, and a host of absolute top shelf talent, Sam Ansty, Jerika and Capsalis (even though he played last yr, with their main backline comming back will excel alot more) I think you would find that SBMT would go close to the B grade title, that is if they can get these signitures.

We cant really know until the start of the season, but id think SBMT would be $2 for the title.

Another reason is that they are one of the biggest junior football clubs in Victoria, their U17's just won the A-Grade title, and the feeder school went well in the Victorian School titles, as well as a host of other junior clubs having insuperior Senior sides, eg: Cheltenham and St Peters, you will find alot of young guns playing up the ranks. With also the announcment that they have 2 U19 sides this year, the tigers future looks bright. Young tiger Brett Collins who played last year and stared is not even the cream in the clubs youth stocks. Watch out for a few dashing hard at it midfielders aged 18 or so to feature at Brindisi St in 06'.

Anyone else know of any good signings for other clubs in C grade?

I think you will find that SBMT lost the B Section 1st Semi final in 2004, last time I checked, you need to make a B Section GF to get to A Grade. 2 wins, not one goal.
The rancid condition and size of Brindisi St oval would put a lot of people off playing there. Why would you play for no $$$ on that dung heap?

Good bunch of people at SBMT, not a second rate club as are the case with 90% of Ammo clubs. Ground is the only fault of the club, but anyone who plays there doesnt give a ********, as its size gives the tigers a considerable home ground advantage.

Footy fanatic, now where do I start.
I doubt if Sam Anstey would in fact, be in the top 30 players in the VAFA. Your ridiculous comments make me ashamed of being associated with the Tigers.
Here are some names off the top of my head who would towel Anstey: Mark Graham, James Gerstman, Andrew Ramsden, Simon Garlick, Brett Trollope,Tim Ockelshaw, Steve McKee, Nigel Credlin, Andrew Ukovic, Murray Pitts, Damien Ryan, David Loats, Richard Taylor, Travis Ruyg, Anthony Mc Donald, Nick Daffy, Danny Roach, Paul Corrigan, Brett O'Farrell, Matt Lucas, Paul Greenham, Matt Kempton, Tim Finocharrio, Dan Cullinan...now please, recognise that your bull******** comment about 80% of players going overseas is crap also. In fact, most travelled no further than Parkdale Vultures and Mordialloc.
And lets be honest, Leigh Capsalis is 37 going on 38, and Jurica only trains with the Tigers to play in the bush for dough. He is the first one I would ******** off if I was Bevo.
The Tigers are in for some tough times and we don't need guys like you pumping up the tyres at this time of the year. NOBS StPats will go the double drop to D Section without Minton Connell and Cassell. Making the four in C Section would be a massive efforts for the Tigers, with Old Camberwell and Old Paradians the favorites to play off for B Section in 07.

Brian Speaking, Cassell is a still a chance to play at NOBSPC. There are also several ex St Pats players joining the new club.

More will be unveiled after the luanch at the Gillon Sunday. You are more than welcome to attend in a official VAFA capacity.

So you consider drunken reptiles with no teeth who run through the opposition's 3/4 time huddle good people??

I think StBede's are terrible people, I would be interested to hear the real reason why Benny Mof left the club.

Brian Speaking,

With your in depth knowledge of the VAFA I would like to know your thoughts on the Fitzroy Reds and where you think they will finish next season.

Cheers :)

Bwian,

Whilst I agree with your point concerning Anstey paling in comparison to many of those list above, I note that you've included 7 1/2 (ie. Kempton) SKOB players. Please note if you insist upon naming so many from the VAFA's 12th best side, you'll lose credibility, or perhaps give the rest of the SKOB senior players an inferiority complex.

PS - you forgot Luke Williams.
PPS - you've added more credibility to The Sheik's Top 30
PPPS - ditto Scribe2's lists.

Cheers

Who may these players be?

Yeah im the one talking bull********. Sam Ansty a bloke that has accumulated 5 bests in 05' in the VFL, whos in the prime of his footy career couldnt towel up a bunch of has beens in the VAFA, youve got to be kidding, im not pumping the tires, B section is a massive step up from C section and i think the tigers will make the downstep well, just my opinion. Jurika, two listen trophys...hmmmmmm i feel a fair hint of jealousy in ur words, maybe they are threatening your spot brian?

Fanatic, what type of weed are you growing, drying, smoking or eating?
Why would I be jealous of the Tigers? I have a regular Saturday morning gig with Tigers and I have a hint of affection for the club.
The reality is most people would say 'Sam who'? As far as Jurica goes, he annualy touts himself around to every metro club and ends up in the VFL.
Would be a good pickup if the Tigers get him, but you have a lot more work to do than these lads.

Alphonse, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I will be finalising, for the 10th time, the club 18 Division 3 North East South West Red, Green and Pink Section draw for 2006. If I do happen to turn up, will I get a free 'snag'???
