Yes that is right Miss Finland & I can reveal that the mail I have received that it is the return of the General from the 2001 flag Nigel Credlin. I am told by a very reliable source that he was re-registered just before cut off in June & kept in cotton wool just for this game.

Trev,
If he has not played 5 games during the season proper he is ineligible for finals.

Monkey, INCORRECT! You only need to be a registered player to play. That rule only applies to VFL listed guys.
Promises to be an interesting game this week...

Fair enough BS. I need to read my rulebook more often. Big fan of NC and would be great to watch him in action again. Nine times out of 10 a club doing something like this would be more likely to face the wrath of a backfire for obvious "play the players who got us in the GF" reasons, however big NC is a special man to all Wellers.
That said, i dont expect to see him anywhere other than on the sidelines this Saturday.

It's not a matter of who will win on Saturday the question is who will come back to C grade in 2009, as both teams have been waiting for over 20 years to get to B Grade and may struggle to match it with the big boys.Time will tell.
One thing is for sure they both will get a taste of Ammo networking and salary fixing.

Hi Jakas or should that be jackass. Who knows or cares who will return to C grade in 2009. That is in the future, the rebound effect could happen to any team in any grade, just take a look at Old Hailbury in A Section this year.

Also I think that all who post to this forum are getting a bit tired of the garbage talk about Ammo networking & players being paid under the table. It is getting a bit old hat & anyway the Amateurs Network has been a happening thing since Noah was a lad.

Players choose to play at clubs for all manner of reasons & many have little to do with the almighty dollar. Besides clubs in Associations that pay players do not have a medical plan & the player gets no money if he is injured. Surly friendship/mateship with the possibility of forming relationships that could be beneficial in life after football would be more of a draw card than the quick dollar, especially to players coming to grass roots football after an AFL/VFL career.

I couldn't agree more 'Behind the bar'! You have got it right here, some of the people that post on this forum have no idea about club culture and why players choose to play footy at all. I think Jakas is one of those people!

An ordinary unit that jakas! Only ever posts c r a p!

Thankfully my fellow posters chimed in with a timely reply.
I think this incorrect correction has been corrected - yes there are two Heppells - and yes - they both spent time on AFL club lists. The particulars are fuzzy from there on.

As for Saturday - looking at the way Carey have gone about their footy over the past 2 years (I'm going on last year and last weekend) - Camberwell can expect a hard and tough contest from go to woe. The OC2 coach demands hardness at the pill - and guys like Parton, Kent, Parker, Evans, MAngus, Howgate, and Wagner all thrive on a tough and tight scrap.

You only need to look at last year's GF - key Camberwell blokes will be hit hard - not just early but all day. If I was someone like Charlie Hendrie, I'd be bringing an ice bath to the ground - and not to keep the post match beers cold.

Oh there'll be some fire and brimstone at Sandy come Saturday. I'm just glad I'm at least 2 years away from being anywhere near Dolly and a football in dispute - you just know you're going to earn it - and its gonna hurt like hell on Sunday morning.

I think it will be extremely close on Saturday - a lot will depend on any ins and outs - given its Thursday can anyone have a stab at the teams or at changes?

Plenty of people witnessed last years grand final.I drove from Sandy to Preston and missed the classic St.Bede's /Ajax clash. But I didn't waste my time.Saw a really professional unit spank a group of kids. The kids are growing fast however and will soon be a force to be reckoned with.

OC 1 are not kids, and ,as was witnessed on the postage stamp in round 17, are clearly up to the challenge OC2 will throw down. I'm in agreeance with the other poster.I'm certain Gabe, Heff, Radar, Rory ,Bear , Wheels and Pezza and the rest are terrified. The only really scary thing out there would be lining up on Chard.

As for your ice bath quip,I'm sure Charles will bring plenty, enough for the beers and hopefully my post celebration aching head.:).Hope to see you for a coldie win lose or draw.

OC1 by plenty
OC1 ressies by even more.

If this were true and not just Bu!! Sh!te i imagine the Old Carey Coach would be grinning. To bring back a player who hasnt played a sinlge game, sounds like a big panic move no matter how good he is.What else is hapening down there would neccessitate this Again no matter how good he is he will be lacking match fitness. Big mistake if true. Old Carey by plenty if Credlin plays

Time to hang up your typing boots Jack-ass. Pathetic stuff. Fortunately for your club, you have posters like Kingbrown and Side Show who show class and knowledge. The Amateur network is something that clearly goes way over your head. I hope for your clubs sake your thoughts are not shared by many. Both clubs have come from the D-Grades up to B because they have put together sound plans and have done everything oin their powers to ensure success. Both have earned the right to try and mix it with the big school Ammos clubs. Time will tell how they do, but i am sure that there are many wishing them every success. Monkeyboy amongst them!

Angelic, Credlin is NOT playing, whoever wrote it is talking crap, no panic at OC, lots of excitement.

There may still be a few eyebrows raised when the teams run out at 2.00pm tomorrow following some mail received after selection from both camps. I'm sure you would also have this info BS? Lots of excitement everywhere!!

Monkey

Surely the previously omitted Christie brother is a chance to sneak back in?
Does that mean 3 changes to the rested Camberwell side?
Would make for a potentially flat reserves side.
I'm tipping Ormond - senior selection policy for the first half of 07 means they have only a handful unavailable FROM THEIR ENTIRE LIST - and the side I saw account for Rupo on Sat looked a lot like the senior side I'd seen a few seasons ago.

Parton v McGuigan shapes as a crucial battle. Blinky Bill should check himself before he wrecks himself - Dolly is a jet - has captained the Vic Rep side, won comp goalkicking and just breeds confidence through any team he plays in. As for his sparring ability - I wouldn't want to meet him down a dark alley - or try to stand between him and a premiership that eluded him last year.

Going to get the last two team lists and try to compose some teams. The end of D Grade footy has left me wanting.

Randall, did a bit of research for you. Sen games in 2007 by Ormond's res 22 last week approx 90, sen games in 2007 by OC's res 22 vs Rupo in 2nd semi approx 60. A couple back in the OC's res this week due to sen inclusions will see the games swell to 80-90. Seems like a pretty even game to me. Although I didn't see the game, I'm led to believe Rupo's res last week had 80+ sen games between them.

Nice bit of research George Costanza...

My point was not about how many senior games they had played this year - in fact, given the Ormond seniors didn't make the finals, the most any player could have played is 9 - so maximum 198 for the team (90+ out of 198 ain't bad).

I was inferring that the calibre of those available had been enhanced by a selection policy in the first half of the season that saw unlikely types playing senior footy. If you check the Ormond reserves teamsheet leading up to the finals - you will see about 14 changes once the seniors couldn't make the finals.

If you can employ your sleuths - tell me how many Ormond ressies blokes who have played more than 6 reserves games this year didn't play the last two weeks? I haven't done the math - but I'm told there are quite a few with noses out of joint.

Randall, I haven't gone into it with the detail you have. I enjoy reading informed posters like yourself's posts & used the VAFA software to see how close you were as a matter of curiousity. I would imagine this time of the year is tough for all coaches/selectors in leaving guys out. Maybe all leagues should employ the NFL rules & let 'em all suit up if they qualify, whether or not a coach uses them is another matter. I'm happy to be an observer watching the odd game & enjoying a bit of banter with posters like yourself. I did have a quick look at the VAFA site to check max no of sen games allowable & I believe its 10. Still 90/198 - 90/220 is not a massive difference.

Come on Monkey and BS....
You two have been the main protagonists on this thread all year.
Deliver your own firecraker finale to the season by enlightening us all.

Holland and Deane-Johns
Parton and McGuigan
McQueen and Mitchell
Parker and Hilton
Willingham and Loats
Collins and Credlin
Heffernan and Angus
Chard???

I agree with this one. Nothing else. I doubt Loatsy will be playing in the ruck. Collins will not pick up someone who is not waring football boots. I think we may see De Sanca pick up a Panther tall.

It will be a great game Golden B. OC1 will look to continue their dominant drive from the back 6. Opposition teams find scoring against this lot extremely difficult. Old Carey will need to ensure that the forwards they have for the day are prepared to work extra hard when they do not have the ball. This is where the OC1 drive starts and this is where the OC1 drive can potentially be extinguished. I would expect OC2 to start some fleet footed smalls to hover around the big 3 forwards they have and ensure that OC1 do not run out the ball without pressure. In the guts it will be a delight to watch. Both teams are loaded with stars and rotations. As i said in an earlier post, fresh legs may become a big factor. Down forward in the land of Loater, The Hilty and Chardonnay, this is where the OC2 headaches may begin. Chard is a work horse. Loats is a big horse. Hilton is a rocking horse. Can they all be stopped? I doubt it. OC2's backman will rely on their midfielders ensuring that the ball comes in slowly and numbers are there to help out.
Will be an enthrawling battle. For me, the Wellers by a few sausagerolls!

i think carey may try to throw willingham back onto loats and ruck with just the one ruckmen all day, tom bayford to win best on ground for mine
