The thing I like most is he really drives us forward unlike our recent wingers. His 12 marks suggests he works very hard. Instant replacement and upgrade on Phillips with much more scope given his age/height/skills. Credit to the club there.

He definitely seems to lack weapons

All Murphy needs to do is be there to act as a link guy in a chain of possession down the wing as well as hitting up as a consistent outlet for our half backs, after which he can turn immediately and deliver a quick, penetrating kick to give our half forwards a chance.

Not everybody has to be flashy and not being so doesn't consign someone like Murphy to being a plodder, he just needs to play that reliable linking wingman role consistently and well while still doing the defensive stuff to be a very good player for us.

This is what struck me - a winger with actual penetration and accuracy on his kicking!!

Helps that 193cm, only 18 years old and can run all day and then some! Good pick.
