Cameron Wood is a Pie

Definately a win win for both parties concerned. Collingwood fulfill their ruck deficiencies & the lions walk away with pick 14 to go with their other 1st rounder. :thumbsu: for all.
Have I missed a piece of the puzzle here. Travis Johnstone went to Brisbane for pick 14 to Melbourne. How did Brisbane get pick 14 back from Collingwood for Cameron Wood ?

unbelievable !!

Does that fact that Brisbane rucks have struggled this year - and yet they are still prepared to trade Wood mean anything to Collingwood ???

hello !!

Pick 14 ?? !!

I bet Brisbane wouldn't be able to wipe the smirks off their faces

:D

Have u seen who the pies rucks were, now we have a back-up ruck.

Had a weakness so we did something about it.

Brisbane have done well to get Pick 14 for Wood.

Has played 16 games in 3 years. Averaged around 6 possessions a game. Blake gave him a bath in Round 22. Brisbane are the winner here! :thumbsu:

I wouldn't expect an Adelaide supporter to know anything about having young talent, but please tell me how Brisbane's ruck struggled this year?

Charman played well, and Berger impressed in his games as well.
Wood did get the 2nd round rising star nomination as well.

You are just dirty that all Adelaides rucks are walking out on ya.

Charman is a gun and Berger will be a star. What is Wood expected to do sit around & play QAFL league?

Brisbane don't want to end up like Adelaide & have their excess ruck stocks walk into PSD for nothing.

Although he didn't earn it at Collingwood, he will join Clarke, Pendlebury, Thomas & Goldsack as players on their list to achieve RS nominations in the last 2 years.

I'd go as far to suggest if Josh & Wood were playing in the Prelim, Collingwood would have won.

charman was injured, as was mcdonald so he wasnt likely to get a game anyway.

Rucks dont reach their peak until 23-25, so he is worth it looks the goods now well has shown enough at elats and we would of picked a ruckman at 14 and this kid has 2 years on them already fair trade

Wood is a poor mans Fanning

have you watched fanning in afl a good VFL season means nothing, iacobucci, Davies, and williams will attest to that fanning is useless

Talk about completely mis-reading a post. How the heck could my post be interpreted as saying 'Pelchen is an idiot'.

Back in your box.

Wood is a talented young ruckman who has plenty of scope for improvement and fits the need perfectly for Collingwood. They could have gone into this draft hoping to pick up a Ruckman with Pick 14, but it's doubtful that the likes of Bellchambers or McEnvoy would be around then.

I admit I do try to get a rise out of any hawk supporter I can...I think I need some therapy myself ;)...

I can understand Collingwood going for him he has talent...BUT I just think he will always be a ruckman...and so will Fraser...at some point the Pies need to draft a ruckman who can also play forward...thats what they really need and still dont get with Wood. If you are going to throw your first pick at someone it should be exactly what you are looking for.

IMO Hudson is a superior ruck option to Wood and he went for a second rounder...case closed perhaps?...

Decent trade I think.

Pick 18 in 2004. We pay pick 14 for the development they put into him and get something we need. They receive a pick they can go and get a midfielder with for someone who was surplus in the ruck department.

Hudson is old a few years left and massive price tag - not keen on a patch up job like that.

Wood will play in the ruck most of the time with Fraser going forward & helping out in the ruck. Something we have been desperate to do for years as he is a very handy forward.

He is exactly what we are looking for the only alternative was Warnock who also looks good. He will certainly be much better than Mark Blake!!

Wood will always be a ruckman. Fraser is a very competent forward however. Kicked bags and bags of goals in juniors and loves pushing forward to snag a goal at AFL level. He's not as good a forward as Otto but he's up there.

Hudson is also 28 years old... yeah case is closed.

I think your expecting too much mate. Rucks develop slower than everyone else.

Before this year Mark Blake had played 11 games over 2 years and his career started as a 19/20 year old.

Wood was played 16 games in 3 seasons and was drafted as a 17/18 year old.

When they played against each other in round 22, Wood was 2 years younger and a couple of kilo's lighter.

This was a deal we had to do. I'm very happy with how it played out. We have a huge deficiency in the ruck, and we have now addressed this. Sure, Wood is a gamble, but no more than pick 14 would be, and at least he's close to AFL ready.
