Roast Can anybody explain what benefits Danyle Pearce brings to the team?

I think Pearce will play, we'll have three to four logs in midfield quite often. Sandilands, Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow, even Neale don't spread that well and aren't going to stretch anyone for pace so adding the extra runners is a net positive. I still don't like him at HBF but Hill didn't really take off when thrown back there this year and Danyle has played well there for Port. Put it this way, he's a better distributor than Sheridan and they're both running outside players.

But who of that group I mentioned don't play most games?

Those who are injured. Those whose form doesn't warrant it. Those who don't run hard enough both ways.

DP is maligned on this board. But through all the shit that has been tossed his way, he continually gets selected. Ergo, he's doing something right, indeed he's doing more right than wrong. A 2 year deal (hai Reginald Perrin ) is a likely indicator that the club are happy with him.

As I've said many times before, if DP is our 23rd best player on the list, we are in very good shape.

Surely with hill and the youngsters - of which Weller - Langdon - Hughes and tucker have very good pace we use d Pearce only as depth.

IMO if we don't see Suban or Pearce in the side this year we will have taken strides forward. Also it will be good for peel. There is value from what I've seen in Pearce being there for the other indigenous players. He along with johnson seem to be very good role models and examples of application and work ethic etc. outside of depth, peel and value to our young players he offers a net negative effect on the team each time he plays.

Not being funny but I honestly don't think he's a better distributor than Sheridan, or anyone else in the dockers, or actually anyone else in the AFL.

Putting Hughes ahead of Pearce is where I start to question if the agenda is getting ahead of logic.

He's a better kick than Sheridan. Sheridan is the line breaking HBF rather than the type to unlock the zones with a kick. But Pearce also has a bigger tank, and is quicker than Sheridan. But then again I have always had my reservations about Sheridan down back.

In my opinion Danyle pearce can do one thing better than Sheridan and that is kick longer. He can't run faster and he can't kick more accurately......but that is just my opinion. And I still don't think Sheridan is that good an AFL footballer.

Now I was a big D.Pearce basher in 2016. Constantly calling for him to be dropped etc but I would rather he gets his 2013/14/start of 2015 form back! People on here seem to forget how effective he was when he was in form.

His last game of the year was awesome. If only he could perform like that consistently.

It was, and for that reason I thought he might get another crack. I just do not understand the decision making, or lack there of. Freedom to play has gone, percentage decisions has gone. The shackles came off that last game, and I thought that was where we would begin this year. Shackles TIGHTENED.
I love RTB, but he needs to bring something in game plan or I am back on Liverpool - nearly Champions League certs.

Step 1 - youth - tick
Stept 2 - corridor and risk?
Step 3 - defence rebound - fast - mistakes ok? jury is out
Step 4 - kick goals from 50m+ Hill brothers - don't pass, be selfish and shoot from 55.
Step 5 - go to step 2. Risk it all, kick goals. Get beaten like soldiers

To be fair to Daynle, he is one of the only players that try to kick it forward, rather then kick it sideways like everyone else. True, most of his kicks are long bombs rather then the accurate passes most of us would prefer, but even so he gets more criticism then he deserves.

I honestly think he got a lot more to give in wafl level than AFL now.
