Roast Can anybody explain what benefits Danyle Pearce brings to the team?

He doesn't need to be chaired off by his teammates, he was f***ing carried by them the whole night.

Call it now Danyle you're finished.

Whoever signed him up for two years extra should be sacked !

It was a last chance saloon picking him for this game. Either retire or otherwise we move him to Rookie list to pay out his final 12-months playing with Peel. He only has a contract for 2018.

Rosco made some comments about players responding to challenges/adversity etc. when asked about Ryan and his drinking ban the other week. I'm guessing there was a little bit of Danyle Pearce relevance in those comments, "if you're not going to respond then we'll move you on".

Lost his fitness?
I was surprised how hard he was blowing too.He did cop a fairly heavy leg knock early, possibly a corked thigh but was poor overall. He's played some good footy for us and I'm guessing they had him off the half back to replace some of Connor's run but he was off the pace all night;poor decision making and distribution made him a bit of a liability.
We've seen his best, don't need to see his worst.

The way BF send Danyle off , I doubt his son will want to play for freo .
The way Danyle played, I doubt his son/s will be any good anyway.

Bit harsh on Danyle everyone.

His ability to turn the ball over almost every time is what has allowed us to become such a strong team in defense. Almost everyone runs into defense when he gets the ball.

Those foundations will pay dividends around 2021.

That's right. Reminds me of how far ahead of his time Jack Anthony was. Back then no-one took this approach as he was taking his set shots.

He's clearly not a part of our future plans. But he had a couple of good years for us. Plus his kids go to school with mine and he's a really nice guy with none of the ego that many players have so I've always had a soft spot.

He came from a family who was dirt poor and I really hope he's earned enough to set himself up nicely for post footy life.

I really anti dp last year and this pre season , but I think he deserve people to back off this year and stop criticism him.

Might as well move the DP bashing from the training thread.

It's not fair to just focus on his kicking.

He also handballs to players under more pressure than him.

Whilst the board seem enamoured with DP bashing, he is no Robinson Crusoe in the disposing of the ball and putting a team mate under pressure. When DP does good, it goes unnoticed, when he stuffs up (as all players do) he gets crucified. The reality is that he played a handful of games last year, mostly when players were injured. He played 2 game after round 10 and has clearly been phased out of the team. To his credit he still puts in at training, at times one of the hardest working on the track, is demonstrating the right attitude to a whole bunch of younger players (indigenous and not), doesn't appear to have spat the dummy and plays his role, when asked.
There's a lot of group think going on with Danyle.

Good buddying but he was not working hard at training or demonstrating the right attitude to a whole bunch of players yesterday - maybe he was just having an off day? It did surprise me because I've read other comments like yours on here about him being great at training. I tend to be frustrated with him not lowering his eyes (and completely agree others deserve similar criticism) but at Wednesday's training I was far more disappointed that he presented as a poor role model for our youngsters. Lets hope it was just a one off.

In short;

Cons: he’s old, he’s shit
Pros: he’s a good bloke, he trains hard, he’s rarely injured, will free up some salary cap when he retires.

Pros outweigh the cons. All hail DANYLE PEARCE! Similar attributes to my buddy, although DP has about 3 extra pros than HB. :p
