....NO we dont really care what opposition supporters think of us... As much as you would like us to care it is not going to happen......
I think that's what grates them the most.

You guys are the ones who keep re-directing the issue to membership sales, there's more to a campaign than that.
Let's look at a little issue called branding. In the last 2 years carlton has been suffering an inferiority complex, and thus used outside influences to dictate the clubs direction, "They know we're coming" started the trend, and now once again they've fallen into the trap of using outside influences with their use of Essendon and Collingwood in their branding.
The Carlton brand should be regal and strong, not gimmicky and controlled by kitschy slogans. Wouldn't you prefer the respect of the football community (tipping you don't really care).
Carlton are trying to inflate their image in the community, which is fair enough, but isn't a slogan ultimately something that speaks to the club and the players. Anyway ultimately who cares, winning is the only measure. If it gets the more members then it works, but its gonna make them look stupid if they dont win and do more damage to the brand.
I don't really know why I'm giving advice, cause I'm happy it's bad.
No, because we're aware of our situation and have learn't from last year not to get ahead of ourselves. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, you get the gistSo based on this advice Richmond's slogan should be something like:
'Richmond 2010 - even we don't think we'll be any good this year'.
.. a laughing stock, ....
Just a couple of points I wish to raiseNo, because we're aware of our situation and have learn't from last year not to get ahead of ourselves. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, you get the gist
You have been fools for decades now???????????????????
The carlton brand is already damaged, repair is in order, not gloating.
Richmond's brand has been beyond repair for so long, not gloating but the truth. We have hope - you do not
Parrot your argument has one major flaw, Carlton is currently a laughing stock, thanks to their off field incidents. Success and attitude, that's funny.
Laughing stock - like another 5 year plan and then the players have a meeting and get rid of the coach?
Hope you're taking this all in good fun.
Ciao and good luck for 2010
I can aknowledge that Richmond have been terrible onfield and off, your arguments are the equivilant of "you are".Just a couple of points I wish to raise
cheersStopped reading at "learn't"

You're mostly right, but if you remove the blinkers you'll see that the Carlton brand is a shadow of its former self.Doesn't that define the Richmond Football Club? No success in 30 years, sitting 15th after about 5 failed rebuilds this decade, a relentless series of jaw dropping draft gaffs, a recent player initiated coach sacking, the coach spitting, the dump trucks, two 5 year coaching disasters, the Torquay property deal Salary cap rorts/cheating, the debt, the training facilities in the outer suburbs, worst list in the AFL easily, and now run by a no talent politician whose speciality is AFLPA funded "study trips". I guess when it comes to marketing you need (A) a product, and (B) competent people. The Tiges fail on both scores I'm afraid, and that's why they're a Basket Case.
You're mostly right, but if you remove the blinkers you'll see that the Carlton brand is a shadow of its former self.

2002-2007 agree. Last two years? I think they represent steady, healthy and dramatic regrowth. We had a bushfire gut the club and, with a few spot fires since, all that's done is burn off the deadwood and clear the way for a fresh new outlook. You're mostly right, but if you remove the blinkers you'll see that the Carlton brand is a shadow of its former self.
I think we've been a laughing stock for to long and can see some kind of professionalism entering the club, but a few more years of pain may be ahead before any real top four consistency. What's the feeling like down in Tigerland? (Not that I could give a shit)
You areSo is Richmond.
My signature says it all. We don't care what you think. But obviously you all care what happens at the Carlton Football Club.
Once again, the marketing dept achieve exactly what they aimed to do, and that's to get everyone talking about the Carlton Football Club. It happened last year, and it's the same this year. You lot fall for it everytime. What was that you mentioned before about "fool me once"...?

No-one here doubts that we will resume normal service (regular top-four appearances, winning flags) from 2010 and the scary thing for the rest of the league is we now have an enormously talented list with stacks of room in our salary cap. The irony when we snag the cup with change in our pockets...
Anyone who now thinks our brand is weak and that we'll never be as great as we've ever been is truly kidding themselves. I doubt there's been a more positive attitude among the club's supporters.

Any attack on Richmonds performance over the last 30 years is water off a ducks back to me, I've probably done it more than anyone. So if that's what i'm going to deal with than so be it.
I'm definitely looking forward to the coming year though, and round 1.
