McLean is the future captain but, as much as it pains me, we have to let him get his footy and body right and get out on the field week in week out before he gets the captaincy.
i expect neita will keep it in 08 so that mclean can take it the year after, but id like to see a fresh face like mcdonald take over and let neita also concentrate on his football.
itd be good to have a consistant and injury free player as captain and would probably help the team knowing your leader is there around the ball and is setting a clear example.

I voted Neita but want McDonald, keep ol'Neita in the leadership group but let him focus on kicking those bags that he's still capable of kicking.

I said Junior, simply because, by the sounds of it, neita wants to hand it over to someone and thinks Junior is the best option. Then Brock. Let him get himself right before taking the captaincy. VC next year for Brocky

Depends on how Neitz's body holds up. If he breaks down early in the pre-season then I'd say he will hand it over - otherwise he will captain us for one more year, especially with that year being our 150th birthday!

Jimmy Mac give it to him for 2 years and then off to Brock when he is a superstar and injury free.

Jmac is 31, neitz is 32. A better option would be Bruce for a couple of years. As much as i would love Brock to captain next year, he probably needs 2 more years to develop. Bruce can do a similar job as Viney did in 98 and 99 he allowed Neita to develop into a more mature player.

Age doesn't matter until your body starts breaking down. Showing that Jmac is only one year younger than Neita doesn't really boost bruce's capabilities to lead, or lessen JMac's.

It should either be Brock, JMac or Neita.

Neitz said he'd stand down and that he didn't think Brock was ready until he got his body right. I'll go with his idea of J Mac for a year.

I think Bruce would do a pretty good job. Give it to him for a couple years. I dont think there is much point in giving it to someone for just the one year. Yes some people are born leaders but some grow in to the role and do a fantastic job. All the best to whoever does get the job.

Just stay with me on this because I know people will rage when I say this.

What about giving TJ the job? Perhaps giving him the Captaincy could be the thing that gets his ass into gear and will get him working harder than he ever has. It could be a one year trial and if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out but it could fix Travis Johnstone.

Stay with Neitz.
Captaincy is a great honour that must only be given to those who most deserve it.
I saw no Melbourne player this year stand up to the plate to take it from Neita.
Captaincy is not a reward (McDonald) but an honour only to be bestowed on the most deserving player of the entire group.
For me if Neitz stands down he will still be captain in all but name. So I say Neita should captain again next year. Not reward a player who is less deserving than big Neita to be captain next year.
That's what I think.
