Carlton announcement on Judd

While I agree with you about most things there, you're wrong about the WAFL. To be honest I'd put the VFL behind both the WAFL and the SANFL

I tend to agree about the VFL being a little bit behind both the WAFL & SANFL.
We lose a lot of good VFL players every year to both these competitions after they conceed that they are not going to make the AFL and go in pursuit of adventure of more money than VFL clubs are prepared to pay. This is no criticism of these players, the WAFL & SANFL chase them and I would proably do the same.

Well it's simple

2+19 is better than 3+20, so unless Kennedy is worth more than pick 18 Richmond's deal has to be a better offer.

Obviously the Eagles hierarchy don't think that, so they'd prefer the picks. Where Kennedy went in the draft two years ago is irrelevant (and the draft two years ago wasn't a strong one).

Incorrect.....if Geelong (VFL) played any WAFL team tomorrow they would likely win by several goals.

VFL have beaten WAFL at almost every opportunity in recent times, not to mention most VFL teams would run out with 6 - 12 AFL listed players each week, versus a WAFL team with around 3 - 4.

I have lived in both states this year (and was at Port Melbourne for the state game), there is no way from what I saw throughout the year that the WAFL is better than the VFL. SANFL I haven't see live so won't comment.

Maybe in the case of the SANFL, but not the WAFL. The Victorians that come west are generally strugglers in VFL who come over here and are key components of a WAFL team. We have even had players come west from the Diamond Valley league and become very strong players at WAFL level.

1. Murphy
2. Thomas
3. Ellis
4. Kennedy
5. Pendlebury
6. Dowler
7. Ryder
8. Jarred Oakley Nicholls (that's funny)
9. Mitch Clark
YEAH REALLY WEAK DRAFT.

Really? That suprises me. I haven't been impressed by the VFL stndard at all lately.

That is such a ridiculous analogy. McDougall was 23 when he was traded and had been in the system for 6 years - he had ample time to develop. Kennedy is 20 and has had limited opportunities in his 2 years in the system.

I would suggest that any valuation WCE have of him will be based more on their predraft rating rather than what he has or hasn't done in his limited opportunities at Carlton.

Limited opportunities breaking into such a strong line-up, hey? Must be hard getting a game with your glut of KPP talent.

Totally different grounds and conditions for both comps from what I have seen, so there seems to be different styles of play. WAFL is more running and dominated by small players because they play in better weather and on better grounds .Apart from Brad Smith this year there are not too many stand out CHF or FF come from the WAFL.

Are you having a laugh, or do you really think he was questioning West Coast's talent?

Mate read his post.

Dillusional :)

OK - Hansen & Lynch arent "superstars", but both are crucial to WCE & are far superior to any KPP forwards Richmond have........... (Richo aside who is in his final phase of his playing career).

Richmond ripping on WCE's talent pool......... thats a bit rich.

Would you have traded T Cloke for a second round pick last year? Before this year he hadn't done anything.

Everyone knows KPPs take longer to develop than other players. Kennedy's only 20, and there is no way in the world Carlton or anyone else would trade someone like him for anything less than a top 10 pick.

Cloke had probably shown a bit more than Kennedy at that stage last year, particularly in his first year as his second was interupted. But having said that if we were trying to trade him we definitely could not have expected more than a late first round or a second round for him - although we obviously would have wanted that you cannot expect it when the player has not performed.

Yes young forwards take more time to develop, but potential is just potential, so many young forwards with potential have failed. Two years in the system is long enough to know what direction they are heading in & there are just too many question marks. If you trade your young forwards early then don't expect that much for them.

Would you let Travis Cloke go for nothing to keep your dignity or would take or would you take pcik 3 and a decent young player ??

It depends if it is a decent young player, the way Carlton were flogging him round would cause some doubt over the matter

So, nearly 11.30 and still no announcement, or even announcement of when there will be an announcement ;)

Those 68-odd people spruiking their 'inside knowledge' (deal's done, my sources blah blah fukn blah...) hows it going?

Those birdys still chirping fellas or what? :)

VFL big winners in state game
The VFL demolished an underwhelming WAFL side by 119 points in the state match at Port Melbourne today. In perfect football conditions, the Vics took control in the second term, kicking ten goals to none in a devastating display.
Nick Sauntner was the star for the Vics, kicking 9 goals, including six in the first half. Justin Berry was an able assistant, registering 4 majors.
The signs were ominous for the WAFL in the first term when the VFL put on five goals in a row after the Black Swans kicked the first. Sauntner and Berry kicked two each, while Luke Livingstone and Jason Cloke were dominant down back, nullifying the Swans' forwards and providing solid run into the midfield.
The Western Australians were better in the third, managing two goals, but Victoria put on five of their own to go into the last term 98 points ahead, captain James Byrne starring in the midfield for the Vics.
The only points of interest in the fourth was whether the Vics could put the final margin beyond 100 points, and Saunter could hit double figures. While the final margin was 119, it was not to be for Sauntner who finished with nine.
VFL: 5.2 15.4 20.6 25.11.161
WAFL: 1.6 1.8 3.10 5.12.42
MAJOR GOAL SCORERS
VFL: Sauntner 9, Berry 4, Byrne 2, Johnson 2, Cartledge 2, Crowe 2
WAFL: C. Jones 2, Hay 2
BEST
VFL: Byrne, Sauntner, Neville, Berry, Summers, Height, Cartledge
WAFL: C Jones, Bossong, Colreavy

---> And this was without any AFL listed players...

Mate, I suggest you read the post again. I was referring to Carlton's lack of talent, specifically KPP talent, and even more specifically in regard to his claims that Kennedy had "limited opportunities" to prove himself at the Blues.

I take it comprehension wasn't (isn't?) your strong point at school? (Spelling certainly wasn't, Mr "Dillusional")

And, just to pre-empt the inevitable, whether Richmond has better talent is completely irrelevent to this argument.

I really hope they make any announcement on Judd while KB is still broadcasting on SEN. Would love to hear his reaction when its finally official that Judd isn't going to Richmond.
