Not much on the couch. Just a slight dig at Owies for not going to Silvagni after the goal celebration. 360 nothing as yet.
I counted 14 teams they spoke about for at least a few minutes, and then that was the only thing they said about the team who beat the reigning premier, absolutely ridiculous. And I can guarantee you that if we slip up against the Giants it will open every broadcast that week.

Let the media froth over their favourites... As long as our football does the talking and we win, that's all that matters.

360 was busy giving Geelong injury excuses and Scott was busy calling out TDK's thuggery. Lyon was busy playing Mr Humble whilst trying to keep a straight face and not laugh at Robbo's nuffery. Pantomine TV at its best. Too early in the season to take these two losses too seriously - also Geelong have the easiest next 6 game run in the competition.

It's interesting what the likes of King and Montagna do.

Highlighting the strengths of weekly winners, then the very next week, telling us those same clubs were really poor in those same areas when they lose

Never about how good you look when moving the ball, or how quickly you do it, it's about effectiveness in 2 areas and has been for years

Win contested ball, get it into forward 50 by any means possible, more often than your opponent and you generally win the game

In saying that, after our draw with the Tigs the footy shows highlighted our poor, slow, boundary side ball movement out of defence.

They showed several clips of our players kicking from defence to targets deep in the defensive pockets allowing Richmond to push across and cover the next kick, every time we bombed in hope of a contested mark. The footage showed targets were available in board on these occasions.

At the game our transition out of defence was terrible.

Watching the Geelong game on TV we regularly took the kicks in to the corridor out of defence and we looked very good, in game when we went wide to the pocket, we got stuck and bombed long.

So yeah, they pick and choose, praise one week and criticise the next, but there’s plenty of truth there.

The second kick out of defence going wide to the boundary is a low percentage kick, it’s hard to maintain possession, it’s hard to find a mark upfield and it seems it was a big reason for conceding multiple entries against the Tigers.

The funny thing is that Buckley praising the pies is pretty much an admission that he was a terrible coach, at least at the end of his tenure.

He had pretty much the same squad (nick daicos excluded) and took them to 17th in 2021, he wanted Grundy signed to a long term deal on huge money etc.

Must hurt deep down.
Good mate of mine, a pies supporter was very critical of Buckley’s last remaining years as coach, they went from playing a more attacking style that actually scored and troubled teams to ultra defensive, slow and predictable ball movement which hurt them offensively and made it easier for opposition to counter defensively…

Very happy to stay underneath the radar. No good can come from March fanfare...looking at you 2012...
Ahh the memories, round 3, destroyed the filth, undefeated, on top of the ladder or thereabouts, media constantly pumping us up as premiership threats, oh man it just felt like finally the switch had been flicked and we are actually genuine. What a time it was to be carlton supporter...

Anddddd then the wheels fell off so dam quickly... :(

Yawn to them.

If they can’t see the Blues are the bomb … they won’t see the explosion coming!

And the biggest proponent of that is now coaching Freo...

Would be better off questioning why, at 32, Stanley lacks the nous of even an u16 ruckmen.

Article in tomorrows HUN by Jon Ralph...

Carlton could let son of a gun Jack Silvagni walk in a bid to retain out of contract rising star Tom De Koning, News Corp AFL journalist Jon Ralph says.
Silvagni logged just five disposals and one goal against Richmond in round 1 and kicked 0.2 from 13 disposals before being subbed out in the fourth quarter against Geelong last Thursday night.
The Blues need to find money to keep Tom De Koning, who is out of contract this year and is certain to attract big money offers to leave Princes Park.

A bit silly by Ralph.

How does letting Jack go help us retain TDK?

Jack won’t be on significant wages. Let him go, we’ll just have to replace him with someone on similar wages.

Exactly

Whether we retain Jack or it, it has no bearing on retaining TDK

“If they allowed Jack Silvagni to go to another club, do you effectively just use all of that money and try and retain Tom De Koning?,” Ralph said.

“We’ve talked about Tom before. He’s probably worth $600,000 at Carlton. Someone else will offer him $850,000.

“Carlton have got a lot of players there that are out of contract that they could make tough calls on.”
Yeah we could also get rid of Weiters or Crippa or Walsh or trade Tommy out or keep everyone. I love how they paint opinion pieces as fact without the reality of yeah but we have to replace Jacks position on the list and Jacks not on big coin….

That's the way SOS rolls offer someone big money hoping the club matches to squeeze another out. Can see this happening tbh it all comes down to how happy JSOS is with our offer/club.

All list managers do that. They have a need to be filled, focus on a player at another club, if that player remains, they have generally ensure they have paid market value and or might squeeze out a similar type

But, SOS knows, Jack's next contact, at any club, won't move the needle enough to jeopardise TDK remaining

Could not agree more wonder who he really is trying to squeeze out of us thou, because I don't see where JSOS fits in at the Saints. Maybe he's just trying to get his son a bigger pay packet.

You know they're struggling for content when they move from "sources close to Carlton suggest..." to "Carlton could..."

This article is literally just Jon Ralph's wandering mind in print. Not worth the paper it's printed on.
