GREAT football teams have something going for them other than superstars, stingy defenders or multiple goalkickers. They boast a mental resolve, a steely streak that ensures the results whatever the circumstances. Carlton still hasn't got it.

The Blues will be the subject of much debate this week after yesterday's 69-point smashing at the hands of Adelaide. In fact, it was already happening by the time they'd gone in at half-time 26 points in arrears.

As usual when Carlton loses, much of the heat, at least from supporters, will be focused on coach Brett Ratten. There'll be endless talk about structures and game plan. Some of which might well be valid.

Good article, our resolve / game plan will continue to come under scrutiny unless we turn it around.

I wouldn't say Melb and Port are foregone conclusion with the way we have been playing.

Not hey most certainly are not.

The worst thing is they will be saying, the blues are bleeding, they are in trouble, its our opportunity if we really give it to them - and that one thing, really giving it to us is what makes us fall over.

More worried than I ever thought possible about Melbourne....

If we lose - what questions will be asked ?

I was a bees dick away from putting money on essendon and the crows. I'm putting money on Melbourne this weekend.

Thanks again Wook.

All good points raised.

I will never get over the fact that we are No.1 in clearances with Carazzo and No.18 without. Staggering.

you really cam find a negative in anything

Actually WOOKIE over the years, especially the darker periods Ive been one of our most vocal supporters, always defending the players, looking for positives and trying to inspire other supporters.

But we are not that SHIT CLUB anymore and our expectations have lifted.

The problem with Carlton ,as I have been trying to point out, is not our skill, capacity or potential (as I think we can win the flag, I expected too), but was with our own over confidence and as Thomson said so perfectly drinking their own bathwater - hollywood hotties.

THats been my issue for a long time - get over the cameras, get over the press, get over yourselves - grow up, get some toughness and play as a team instead of individuals.

It is a clear, simple, self evident streak running through the team.

Jammo at the presser was MUCH better than Judd, he came out and said we can not ignore what happened, we can not defend it, we can not do anything except come together as a team and prove ourselves.

Thats a LOT different to what Judd has said after each loss, Essendon and Saints and now Adelaide (I think someone else said it after one of the losses on Carlton TV)

"lets put it behind us and move on and not worry about"......

I find it ridiculous - its the single most important part of winning a flag - NOT LOSING - and when ever it happens its lets just move on.

As for telling your fans we have two week memories - stick it up your you know where mate - he wasn't even here a few years ago, and won't be soon, but we all will be and we remember every game for decades.

So no, I don't find a negative in everything at all - I have been very, very particular about what I am saying about the club, even if it has been VERY METAPHORICAL and has gone way over the heads of some - but it is now abundantly clear what I have been trying to get through and everyone is on board.

Enough excuses, enough of the self admiration, self indulgence, and personal glorification - LOOK AT ME MENTALITY - the FIGJAM shit.

Its about time they became selfless, team oriented, premiership focused, hard working, gritty, determined, steeled, men instead of night clubbing boys on sunset strip.

If the boys were doing the things above and failing - i would be providing all the support I could, as I did over the dark dark years - always - but when your full of potential and playing disco footy and LOSING then I think they deserve little in the way of compliments.

I was impressed with Jamo actually. Very direct and honest and he looked like was genuinely pissed off. Could easily be our future captain IMO.

I agree - I'm actually a bit sick and tired of the obsession over our number one draft picks - its like they are gods and untouchable.

The truth is Kruzer is struggling to to regain any form (one, maybe two goods games), Gibbs is doing a fantastic job in cruising in the back seat of the easiest ride in town. And Murph is doing well.

Other players have to literally outperform Ablett, Judd and Buddy every single week before we'll notice their names.

And just quietly - THIS MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUES INSIDE THE CLUB.

Jammo was incredibly well spoke, if you remember Kruze sat there the week prior and was fairly quiet.

Judd for mine is a little bit too legendary - his performances are cameo, absolutely NO WHERE NEAR what he was, absolutely can not kick for goal, and when he took two contested marks last week I was genuinely impressed, until it dawned on me I was only impressed because he rarely does it. (Not saying he isn't amazing when on song - but thats hardly ever four quarters and certainly never every week).

Meanwhile we have fallen off a perch because Carrazzo is out !!

Just think this is a great time for some new people to step up - and I think could be just what they need rather than having to sit around playing second fiddle to number one draft picks every week who are barely cracking a sweat.
