Melbourne v Carlton today.

Hard to believe that Melbourne were once our biggest rival. For younger fans, possibly hard to believe that Carlton are still considered our biggest rival.

Both Melbourne and Carlton have been undignified rabble for much of recent history, ready to rort the system, then put out their begging bowls to resurrect themselves after punishment.

At today's President's lunch the topic is: 'The Cayman Islands v Luxembourg: where is best to hide your offshore income?'

Neither club deserves joy on the field.

But Melbourne knows what it must do - foot to the throat of the Antichrist...

Reasonable and balanced post, as always Walter. Although you failed to include a couple of Melbourne-related jokes, so I've corrected that for you.

8 of 11 Carlton’s worst losing streaks have occurred in the current century.
Because if this i’d assume alot of the younger supporters like myself don’t care much about them because of it.

I hate Geelong, Hawthorn and now Richmond far more, even the Dons to be honest just because of Anzac Day.

I don't believe Carlton is a rival anymore they are rather irrelavent and have been for near on 2 decades. There is no spite or agro in our matches after MM went about dismantling our rivalry back mid 00s. Players don't dislike each other either so there's nothing to see there.
Only probably supporters over 40 hold them with any regard.

Richmond has a bit of rivalry being built over the last decade started with king vs Swan now the treloar gate and Richmond flag team arrogance sniping shit.

I personally hate losing to Essendon who imo is another rival who hate pies beating them.

Carlton is just meh.

Don't know whether to be disappointed or proud, Carlton's biggest loss against the dees, however we no longer hold their biggest loss at the G.
