Has anyone actually examined Carlton's potential midfield? Not bad ay?

All thats missing is a developed quality ruckman. (Other then Ackland)

Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Scotland, Carrazzo and Gibbs. That is definitely some quality. Will be interesting to see how these guys go in '08, if injury-free, but that is highly unlikely, especially since at least 2 of them have been out for majority of '07.

No doubt one of the most promising midfields going into '08, but Judd is the only proven, undoubted A-grade player in that list.

Murphy, Gibbs and Carrazzo are all too young & inexperienced to be top-shelf just yet, and Scotland and Stevens are good players but would never be mentioned in the top 15 mids in the league (especially Scotland).

But yes, if they stay together and develop over the next couple of years, they could be a real force by about 2010 (Kreuzer's ability as a ruckman is obviously pivotal to this).

Stevens is without doubt elite A grade, he just hasnt had the support at Carlton. For a number of years he had had to deal with closer attention that most other mids of his quality have had to- only really Koutoufides has taken attention away from him at Carlton. With Judd in the mix, Stevens will go close to being as damaging as he was in his final few years at Port Adelaide.

Scotland certainly isnt elite (and I think a tad overrated by Carlton supporters), Carrazzo is capable, but a step down from A grade. Murphy is definitely A grade on potential, possibly A grade on performance in 2008. He is really something special. Gibbs is relatively unproven, wait until 2009 beofre passing judgement.

OP forgot to mention Kade Simpson, Andrew Walker and Richard Hadlee as well as the the up and coming Ryan Jackson and somewhat forggoten Adam Bentick (who has Libba like tackle stats) All will all be part of the midfield rotation in '08 along with the guys mentioned -Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Scotland, Carrazzo and Gibbs

Will soon be a midfield force to be reckoned with.

It will be the development of Hampson and Grigg that will help lead this midfield to a place seldom seem before.

The Hammer Hampson (with Krueuzer and Aisake as back up supports)
Grigg, Judd, Simpson, Walker, Hadley, Carruzzo, Scotland, Stevens,
Murphy and Gibbs.

As Parrot may say......that's some serious top shelf talent!

Were you stoned when you wrote that?

Stevens is not elite A grade! If he is, then every team has a number of "elite A grade" midfielders, which they don't.

Elite A grade midfielders are people like Kerr, Judd, Bell, Black, Harvey, Bartel, etc. Stevens is not in that company and you are kidding yourself if you think he is. Neither is Murphy.

You do realise, not everyone can be A grade?

I find it interesting what you are saying about Stevens being tagged, before he only really had Kouta to take the attention away. Now Judd is there he can take further attention too. Yes, but Kouta isn't there anymore, so if you have two players to tag (for example as West Coast often does with Selwood and Stenglein tagging) that will be Judd and Stevens. It is the guys like Murphy who will be benefiting, your third and fourth midfielders.
