On behalf of the Big Footy Geelong Board, many many thanks for all the time and effort you've put in this year to bring us the weekly CAP and of course all the hi jinx and frivolity that naturally ensues.

Benny - thanks for the weekly jokes and answers
Kingy - thanks for somehow dodging the Broadcasting Standards Act and getting the jokes thru and reading all the questions - still reckon CAP after Dark series will rate like a MOFO.

Sadly the Cats got hurt too much, and left too little to too few too often to be good enough for long enough this year.

Some will have indicated they will move on, some are yet to say they will move on and some will get told to move on.

Conway looks the goods but cannot be #1 ruck for at least another season - Stanley or other must take that position first.

Is there any truth the to the Jhye Clark rumours of wanting out even thought it seems most unlikely to be real?

Can Shannon Neale push Rohan out in '24 and play the 3rd Tall roll and cover the ruck when Stanley (presumably) is off.

And whom on the list currently is your breakout to happen in 2024?

Seems odd but I’m not overly disappointed to miss finals. Having won the ‘holy grail’ last year makes it easier. If we’d snuck in we’d have been blown off the park.
Saturday night we saw the Loch Ness Conway and like that body of water in Scotland, there was some movement deep down in the nether regions. Most hitoits for the game in debut, we’ve got one here.
You guys mentioned a few episodes ago you weren’t sold on Dempsey, as an avid vfl watcher I am. He has natural footy instincts and X factor, bit of flair. 8 tackles and 3rd most pressure acts for the cats, he needs to live in the gym over summer but he’s tracking nicely.
Also thought Ted (not open but) clohesy showed an appetite for the contest in his short chances in last qtr, and our man Shannon Neale took 4 contested marks, and finally got that first goal.
Season 2023 just never got going for the cats, we have the blueprint and it requires early wins, resting the old boys when required and timing our run. We never had the chance to do that this season.
Bit of luck we can grab a free agent to help in the midfield, I think the defence might need a slight rejig and some added pace, and we go again in 2024.
Play blokes to their strengths ie Holmes on a wing, Kolodjashnij in anyone over 180cm and Stewart intercepting in defence
I look forward to this pod every week, plenty of other footy and cats pods but this is the only one that doesn’t ‘sugarcoat’ it. Thanks for your efforts.
Finally a joke, with the retirement of the 15, but the 45 going around again for many years, next year will be a case of close but no ceglar

Hey Legends, thanks for the year. Always look forward to the Cat Attack Podcast. Any chance Benny can make another bum tattoo bet? Worked in our favour last time.

Have loved the years of some younger players. Ollie Henry and Tanner Bruhn are going to be guns. Can't wait to see Loch Ness Conway develop as well.

Oh and Tommy Stewart with another All Australian blazer.

Although this season didn't go as well as we'd have hoped, I think most cats fans are content and appreciate the amazing club we support. When you see other teams happy just to make finals, it makes you appreciate being a cats fan. All the best for the off season boys, hope you're back next year. Cheers.

I could see us getting an episode after the draft. As Pods noted, it's hard to see the value in it before that. No real surprises in the names exiting, and no players coming into our system at all via trades/FA. Almost the dictionary definition of 'nothing to see here'.

? A couple of years ago he looked like the future of our midfield, he got injured and Atkins overtook him. He spent most of 2023 on the outer but his last game for the year was arguably the best of his career. Is he purely a fringe player now? Or can he fight his way back in to our starting midfield?

With Sav moving down the road and COS being taken with our first overall, are we really expecting COS to slot in right away as KPD2 or will he get the SDK "year in the magoos" to cut his teeth and get his head around it all - surely he gets time to develop in 2024.

Under/Over - Neale on 12 games in 2024.
He has to play IMO 12 games or so to get the benefit of actual game time with Tomma and Jezza rather than just training with them.
Are you under or over on 12 games for him?

And whom will be your smokie for best development in 24? I reckon Ted Clohesy myself of the newer breed has a real chance to make an impression

PS - is Benny going with the Chris Scott face with or without the Santa hat on the doot doot?!??
