Hope you enjoyed all the trip had to offer.

Husky voices on Monday was it?

Certainly would not have been from barracking loudly and celebrating a win. Getting the team 3rd on ladder to within 11 points on their deck looks good on paper but the reality seemed worse to me.

The eyeball test IMO had us far from our best and soundly beaten around the ground - but in the last we suddenly turned it on and come back from 30 odd points down to fall 2 goals short - and we had more than 2 gettable set shots in the game that were missed.

The disposal, double touches and lack of synergy in the team are the parts I find most disturbing. Seems to stem from pressure - perceived or otherwise thats then effecting everything downstream.

Jezza clearly not right either and while backing himself in is meritoriuos surely Neale has to play in his place as Jezza cant get one arm over his head.

Rohan back and Mullin out - geez Mullin has some toe to him. In 6 months when he's got another 15 VFL games under his belt... could be something but till then not so much in the AFL side for mine.

Mullin will probably be something and I get he needs to play games to get expereince and Blitz had the same teething issues when he first started....
( i have vivid memories of Brad Hill for Hawks leading BLitz on a merry dance on the Warne stand wing at the G) but surely the VFL is the place for him at this time.

WE still control our destiny but its getting harder to make the 8 every week now.

Looking forward to Sat - ill be in Lost wages for the next 3 weeks. Look out.

Daz I mean this with the utmost respect to you.. But novel length posts and questions don't translate well to the podcasts... You can hear Kingy having to speed read to try get through half the stuff posted in here.

I'm just quoting your post for an example, but since there are literally questions every week (well when there is a Pod that week) surely shorter sharper stuff is better and can allow more discussion?

Finals a real challenge now, I put to you that we forget about finals. Rest blokes, give the likes of Dempsey, Neale, knevitt the last 4 games, even have a look at Hardie . Injuries to blitz and hawk, danger and Cameron aren’t right, let’s give ourselves a solid preseason and a chance to be back up the top again next year, along with a top 10 draft pick.
Again I ask about vfl defender Bailey van der huevak, not the Olympic swimmer, surely worth a rookie list. 200cm, 90kgs, mature age at 25.

Sheesh….that was tough watching. Agree that we stick a fork in this season and start planning for next year. Strategically, playing the kids and resting up the older blokes is probably the smart thing to do. Will result in a higher first round pick too.

What will be frustrating however is they will keep plodding on with the team stacked with veterans in the mistaken belief that a) we can still make finals; and b) we can still win it if we do. We can’t and won’t. FACT

Do you think we have a realistic shot at Baz Smith? Perhaps our first pick + Sav + Parfitt and someone else. Might take shopping Neale to West Coast for an early pick.

Is it worth getting a Matt Crouch type for steak knives to add midfield grunt and protect the kids there next season?

I’m not sure paying overs to secure Darcy is a good plan if he’s got no-one at his feet to extract the pill!

Boys...
As mentioned this above in the question above but
Honestly Matt Crouch has to be an option, purely simple as we don't have many in that 25-30 age category ( he is 28 ) and there isn't much other to choose from. And only reason he hasn't getting much game time with Adelaide as the coach is going down another path. Will cost nothing

Against Port Adelaide Saturday night

32 Disposals
12 Clearances
15 Contested
91% Disposal efficiency

Also on upcoming trade season. Just wondering if you may have herd any whispers of any players we might be inquire about? Won't hold anything against you if none prevails. I'm just interested thats all..

Cheers FoxDog50

jesus christ.... Rhys has been fine this year, had a freak injury and missed a chunk from that but is hardly struggling. Some old pre conceived notions from Benny appearing in this discussion I'd say

A good win, albeit port had many good players missing. Having said that, to be 8 points down against a top 4 side and get home to keep season alive was a good effort. Miers was superb, Ollie Henry kicking 4 was great.
Parfit showed a bit and hopefully can build from there, clearances our weakness and he can help.
I do not want us chasing Lycett. It would be like divorcing your cousin to marry your other cousin. Give Stanley another year, Grundy would be handy, Stanley then becomes the backup aka ceglar role this year, whilst Loch Ness Conway develops
I ask- what does mark o Connor offer? WhT is he? Averaging 13 possessions, 1 clearance per game. We have enough defenders, surely a knevitt would offer more offensively, also has greatly improved his defensive work as vfl season has progressed. Can play inside or outside midfield.

Good win from the boys ... is what I would say if I were a Hawks fan this week

Is our midfield currently the worst in the comp?

Next year do you want Dempsey on the wing in the seniors or in the forward line but in and out of the side with a lot of sub?

For the luv of all things holy what does Neale need to get a game?

Jezza with 1 arm
Hawkins out 2 weeks.
Neale healthy (mostly) and with 3 in a row in the VFL and now a bye week to rest up.

Give the kid a shot please

Listening to Benny leer over the Swedish women's soccer team like that creepy 60 year old man that sits in the corner of the nightclub ogling all the 18 year olds was certainly interesting...

This pod really is so 1980's when Benny gets rolling with his shtick. What any of it has to do with footy or the Cats is questionable, at best.
