Every other sport that has an advantage rule give a certain amount of time as advantage
If the ball is immediately turned over is comes back for the free

This sport for some reason takes away the advantage after split second decisions and if they turn out to work, well stiff s**t

Its amateur s**t and so easy to fix but they wont
That’s right. It’s our sport, the fastest game in the world. Almost impossible to adjudicate. You win some and you lose some.

The umpire had made the call before that. What if Henry had kicked it straight to a Port player and the umpire had called advantage? You would have blamed the ump if course.
I agree with this. The continuation can't be endless and purely contingent on outcome, though it can play a part. It has to be clear and present at the time of paying advantage.

Will the selectors (after 12 years) finally get that the rucks are important?

I'd suggest that the rucks are one area they've definitely invested in over recent times as evidenced by our drafting & recruiting - but it's going to take time for those youngsters to develop

We may be a bit conservative with Conway so far this year, but can understand why with the amount of football he's missed over the past couple of years, but we've been trying to slowly integrate him into the senior team across the season

Did some good things and was part of the midfield that got back into it. It’s much easier to see that when you don’t have preconceptions on players
Will time prove my perception to be unfounded? I don't think it will

Manage bowes when bruhn is also out and you deserve what you get.
Im not sure why cuthrie is only playing 57 % of the game-if hes not fit then put him in the vfl until he is.

If they pay that advantage at the end we probably win but we didnt deserve to.

That first quarter was under 10s stuff.
We have too many players falling over and fumbling and making stupid errors.

Out hawkins duncan (both will be managed for obvious reasons) stanley (retired never again) parfitt (omitted) clark (omitted)

In: conway bowes bruhn mannagh hardie

They will probably manage dempsey out but id take him as sub.
I doubt clark plays off a 6 day break.
Parfitt did not impress me at all.
Our midfield is clearly a massive problem we need to try hardie and mannagh now and see if they can change the dynamic-no point waiting until round 20.

Hawkins and duncan both worry me because they look like they are struggling to bend and get up off the ground.
Mullin probably deserves another game.

Frankly i could drop oconnor and jack henry (who is in poor form) as well and not be disappointed.

We recruited Danger. We recruited Cameron. We have never gone after an A grade ruckman.

I would like to experiment to see if we could get away without playing a conventional KPF and ruckmen. But they'd be zero chance that Blicavs and Cameron would be intact by the end of the year.
Rohan & Neale may be able to fill the void.

Stanley's performances warrant trialling Neale at the least.

Disappointing to lose that one. Even after the hot start by Port I felt that we could come back if we broke even in the second quarter but 49 points proved a bridge too far. Shame the advantage call wasn’t allowed, no sense of occasion from the ump. But we took too long in the last to start scoring.

Loved what Mullin brought, he’s going to be a regular by the end of the season.

Clark seems inches from a breakout game, starting to have some nice moments, he’s still seeing the game too fast, when it slows down he’ll be right.

Stengle is having a great year

Zach Guthrie has to be leading our best and fairest. It’s incredible to see him willing the team to win.

Felt Cam Guthrie showed a bit in the last, hopefully a return to form.

Some of the boys have seemed off the last couple of weeks, but we’ve lost by 8 & 6 points. Regroup and go again next week, try and split these 2-2 and it’ll be a good result.

And thats our problem. Stanley is cooked and needs to retire. Conway doesnt have the tank every week. So we are going to have to play blicavs in the ruck most weeks which will affect the rest of our structure. Pity neale cant improve his ruckwork more quickly. We need a ruck and dont have an MSD pick.

Out: Stanley (omit), Clark (managed), Hawkins (managed), Holmes (inj)
In: Conway, Bowes, Bruhn, Hardie

That last change is contingent on whatever had Holmes hobbling around in the last 10 minutes actually being an injury.

Surely Duncan is also managed next week - I know he worked into the match, but he's one who looks like could really use a break to refresh

Clark just got managed and he looked pretty good in comparison I thought

We were smashed in the first half. That was disappointing but most of it was Port's midfield which came to play. But Geelong didn't lie down and gave themself a chance to win. I'm not too disappointed, it's a good wake-up call for our inferior midfield. It's also another reason why we should play some of the players starring in the VFL team. Mullin was impressive given he was thrown in at the deep end when an inept Stanley was subbed out. Stengle was fantastic again.
