Yeah, we've all seen the boo-boo. I suspect the club won't plan on having him or C Guthrie for the rest of the year.

Guthrie is basically retired at this point (for all intents and purposes) but still on the list.
Bruhn depends on the legal stuff which we may not know until next year.

Stanleys use will be in games like these and next week against the Lions where you want SDK in the Blicavs role around the field, and Stanley as the battering ram in the ruck.

It would be foolish to go in with just SDK and Blicavs next week.

Based on what I saw of Stanley in the vfl today he's too slow for that.

Yeah they're typically the knee on knee collisions, so a nightmare for rucks.

Of course it can go the other way, like when Tom Hickey was expected to miss three months - plays the next week - and tears Rhys Stanley a new one in a one goal game.

Just once I'd love to be on the winning end of one of those prognostications.

It's like we used up all our luck on Stevie J in 2011.
Overall thought you'd take expending your luck that way

Regardless, you're only doing yourself a disservice if you've got a return date in your head. Not worth the brain power.

Best to just consider him a write off, and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't eventuate that way.

Same goes for Guthrie for completely different reasons.

I agree I was just pointing out that Guthrie is permanently gone whereas bruhn is not yet (see Jack de belin etc)

He is too slow to take the hit out then drop to CHB and let SDK follow the ball around the ground?

Yes. Because in the afl these days transition defensive running is king. Guys like Duncan and Stanley are too slow for it now

It was a weird comparison then, and it looks even worse now.

Even taking out the clear class differential between the two players...they play nothing alike.

Rowbottom would have made more sense if there had to be a comparison.
Let he who has never said anything silly on the internet cast the first stone

Yeah, but without cheap point scoring, what would the internet be?

In all seriousness, we all get them wrong sometimes...but I'm just trying to grasp the premise is all.

Bruhn and Warner have always been the antithesis of each other in terms of their style of play.

I'm still trying to get over my embarrassment at saying we would be getting a 70% version of Patrick Cripps in Chook Constable.

If you want a new premise I'll give you one that may sink my credibility in the future - Jhye Clark can be a good as Zach Merrett if he ever builds the tank to play full games at high intensity

There. I said it. I am ready for my wake up call

Stanley wasn't any faster or slower last year or in 2022, and Marshall was barely a pace king last night.

Meanwhile English is a massive runner and he has been dire.

Sometimes you just need a bigger body in the middle, especially since Stanley can bring it to ground help stop the easy exit.

Don't know about that, but I have seen enough in Clark that he can be an A-Grade mid if he builds his tank. Solid body shape, knows how to get the ball.

Just needs to build a tank and they can work on explosive power.

I have to add some spice to it or people won't grill me. But yeah, I think he's creative in traffic/under pressure and his kicking when he isn't gassed (20 minutes in) is good.

I got burned by Chook not building a tank. I'm ready to love again

Don't worry mate... im still ropeable that we got rid of Chook Constable... He would of won a Brownlow for Geelong this year if he was still playing 😔 😟
