Looks like they've lost a few

I can see this year being the most even and competitive year we have had in a long time. Most of the bottom sides look like they will improve and Boga and balranald could finish top 3

Woorineen and cohuna look to be as strong as last year, kerang look slightly weaker, those sides have a lot of ground to make up, they were a fair bit off the pace of the top 3

Woora look 5 goals better than last year

Lake Boga also picked up Maroochy star Lochy Laing to go with live wire Warren.Great recruiting to go with Simpson and Filo! Decimates Maroochys fortunes!

Boga look to be over doing things to me. It’s not healthy for a club bringing in so many big money recruits, especially fly ins.
I can see it ending badly for them down the track

It’s not ideal but apparently they have offered dozens of lesser Victorian based players bigger money and had no luck. (Including players who have ended up at other CM clubs)
There is always the possibility they all leave at once but they had been so poor for so long I imagine they think it’s worth the risk.

Boga have had talented juniors, so I'd imagine the hope is they get a core of 12-16 locals that learn how to win with these recruits and turn them into a graders in the cmfl. Sets them up for a decade, Shaun did similar at kerang and that worked out ok

Boga have been contending in under 14 & colts grand finals for the past 5-6 years and it hasn’t seemed to translate to a strong young local core group yet. Perhaps Filo might change that

Yeh I think the most important thing for them now is to start contending. It will then become a million times easier to get locals to travel back and attract recruits who live closer who may be easier to retain long term.

With so many travelling high paid recruits the risk is some of that core group of locals become disgruntled due to lack of game time and move clubs.
It’s a balancing act I know, just feel boga are overdoing it. Already hearing rumblings…

It’s a bit of a catch 22. If they thought they had the locals they probably wouldn’t need to go so hard with the travellers
