Ah so the fresh start he said he wanted had nothing to do with the camp fallout that he subsequently stuck on the record as being detrimental to culture etc (partof his reason for wanting that fresh start).

Okay.

I’d recommend you reading his interview then.

Failing that, which I have a strong sense you will, there is also a video that should dumb it down even further to your level.

Why? Because people who are so offended by something dont leave until 2 years after the event (instead of requesting a trade last year) and even doing so while knowing the club was going through full review to improve?

They may well have problems with the club but using the camp as your excuse is just a cop-out so you won't be scrutinised for leaving and wont look like the bad guy.
It might not be CEY leaking stuff but could be his own manager or just the same media asses stirring up the same agenda, knowing that there will be a hefty amount leaving this year (players/coaches).

I think I've seen and heard everything that's been produced so far. Falling for the PR spin is your problem not mine.

Cornes wrote a decent article on the camp and has called for full disclosure.

He said the players had to sign a confidentiality agreement beforehand and that’s why they won’t speak about it, that’s just crap.

The main complaints are summarised into:

1) An incident involving an aboriginal elder backfired

2) Session with senior players where personal information about them and their upbringing which only the club would have known. Broke trust

3) Several of the younger players were dropped in an isolated location and had to find their way back

4) More serious incident where one of the younger players was severely embarrassed, involved in a activity which included a lurid version of Simon Says. The player did it, yet Studley incredibly tries to apportion some blame on the player by saying he shouldn’t have followed.

A reasonably good article besides this line showing how out of touch Cornes is.

Well Cornes was drafted into an imperialist war, so maybe he shouldn't have followed and simply refused to go.

For trying something different and getting it wrong?

Are you afforded opportunity to learn from your mistakes? They are the best lessons in life.

I encourage my teams to accept mistakes and focus on the learnings. I dont fire them for it.

I did, however, fire a girl who came from a competitor and started bagging them out. I gave her an opportunity not to do it and she continued in the coming days. People who speak ill of others could one day do the same to you. I am sure Brisbane are smart enough to realise who they have contracted.

Must be a breeze encouraging imaginary teams.

You maybe the only one that may bother with him Marty, but I think you may not even deal with idiots😃

Why did it take 2 years? Because the club knew that 1 event doesn't define a person and that people should be allowed to learn from mistakes.

Had that camp worked well it would have become a model for others. It didn't. Okay so now we learn. We don't have to hang a bloke for it.

But thanks to the media (and probably some mentally weak individuals in the club who can't move forward), the PR became too much and the club was forced to act.

How sad for his family.

Lindy? Lindy, is that you?

Yet the commentary seems to all be around this camp, fueled by CEYs comments.

That isn't helpful. What else has Burton done that is so drastic as to be worthy of sacking?

“The commentary seems to all be around this camp, fueled by CEYs comments” because you’ve managed to stumble into a thread dedicated to exactly that. And yet you seem surprised that the conversation has directed towards CEY’s comments regarding the camp.

It's not uncommon for people to remain in completely dysfunctional organisations where they have been mistreated much longer than they ought to. Someone being bullied or mistreated at their place of workplace may decide that remaining in the short term is the best course of action even though it can be potentially detrimental. There may be multiple reasons, such as promises of changes, prolonged negotiations, contractual issues or an inability to leave due to financial or personal reasons. Having dealt with a number of people in such situations, one thing I've noticed is that people often trust that those with the power within said organisations to change things will look out for their best interest, and if it doesn't come to pass it can take some time to come to the conclusion that this isn't the case.

Another related example are people who remain in abusive relationships even though there's a high degree of domestic violence or emotional abuse. To the outside observer, it may make sense to simply leave to avoid the obvious stressor, but decisions to leave or not can be complicated and coloured by factors like children or the personality of the abuser who they fear will escalate things if they make an attempt to leave.

I don't think you got the context.

Sorry but that is pretty stupid comparisons as neither scenario exist.

That's using the most extreme examples of this type of thing - not usually comparable to more mild cases.

Besides, we are in an industry where moving is remarkably easy (particularly if you tell your bosses to trade you or you will leak shit - believe me CEY would be traded to whatever club he wanted for peanuts within minutes of the period opening .. ironically that's his value).
