The way I look at the changes is this way:

Mayne, Taberner, Mzungu, Clancee Pearce, Zac Clarke, Jonathan Griffin,Nic Suban, Deboer aren't good enough for this level...
Taberner gets a pass as he's tall and unless Apeness or Smith comes good he'll stay.

Barlow is marginal at best.
Apart from Taberner the guys in the list have had 6-8 years to prove their worth.

As far as I'm concerned when their position comes up in the selection board their name should only be put on the team list where there is no one younger to take their place...
We aren't winning a premiership with this list currently.

Fast tracking these kids, the same way Beveridge has done, the way Longmire is doing is a priority.
We need a new support group to go around Fyfe, Bennell and Neale.

We're now developing a list not premiership searching
Your comments are spot on, based on what we have witnessed in round 1.

Based on your assumption that Freo should be list building,I suppose the selection criteria should be;

1. Would the player get a regular game for the top 4/5 sides?
2. Given time to develop, do they have the potential to play regularly for a top 5 team?

if the answer is yes to either of these criteria then they should be playing.

True, but Weller stood out to me as much as anyone and I was responding to a post about Weller at least had a go. I saw him multiple times struggling to keep up with a Bulldogs player. I know there were plenty of others in the same boat, but geez I thought Weller struggled massively today.
But he has huge upside and should be given an opportunity to develop.

Beverage didn't fast track his list, that was the man who held the job previously and lost his job for losing too many games (plus the captain saying he would leave).
I just love watching WBD play - they move the ball so fast. The coach has some talented players but his method of play is what makes him superior to the former coach.

A lot of over reacting in this thread after one poor game.

Taberner had little impact but how many inside 50's did we have in the first half?

Mayne gets one more run before a spell if he doesn't improve.

Out - Mzungu, Clarke
In - Johnson, Sandilands.

Who will replace Mayne from Peel? Unless you play Alex Pearce forward there is no one at Peel who could play forward.

Alex Pearce the swingmen replace gu, and add a mid/ wing langdon instead of Mayne. A lot of people mention our forward got problem ,I see more to player not constantly provide option by running to open space as the problem from back to mid.

Against WB
1) kicking ( we known the problem last year)
2) handball ( handball to player with two or more opposition player) closing in .
Decline in this area also
3) forward pressure ( 2013 ballas at prime age tackle cause opposition turn over, Mayne kicking accurate, pav younger, Sandi younger , Walters got something to prove after send to swan district
4) Lyon game plan getting a bit boring to player compare to when he first came in and cause doubt after few year in final series hawthorn getting the flag, few team refresh their list ( Sydney, WB,Geelong ,Eagles , tiger ( play badly but give opportunity to rioli) move on to different style of play.

Griffin will spend a lot of time forward next week with Sandilands due to return so if Mayne gets dropped it'll be for a runner to play high half forward in Hughes/Blakely/Langdon.

Langdon get my vote , yes his disposal cause some concern last week but last year he is playing purely outside , last week first time playing hybrid in/out and get 32 possession that mean he is learning in rapid pace as compare to deboer playing few year in wafL and afl.

Deboer - last year should be playing Crowley tagger role or soft tag instead of coming in and out of the team. I will play him if Mayne is out of the team but can't have both in the same team.

Did Griffen actually get any ball at all Sunday. Griffen forward is a disaster. He can't hold a mark and his defender runs of him at will. Agree with you on most things but Griff no.

My changes would be:

In: Sandilands, A.Pearce, Johnson, Langdon
Out: Griffin, Clarke, Suban, Mzungu

Want to rest Pavlich to manage his workload over the season, but after the Rd 1 disaster, we need to turn things around and he stays.

I would swap Suban for Mayne with A Pearce going forward. Agree with most of it.

Crozier. Play him for 4 quarters and for several weeks at least. Mayne has had 2 years of free passes. Croz has the tools to play the same role.
Tanner Smith is not an AFL footballer. No idea why he's still on our list.

I would like to see Walters,Weller,Langdon and Ballantyne around the flanks at the feet of Pav and Tabs in the key positions . All out speed, flair and attack. Plenty of chase and tackle in that group.

Neither did Fyfe, Mundy, Hill. Griff has kicked some important goals, including a couple in the prelim last year.

IMO we are no chance of a top 4 finish let alone flag contenders.
The bottom line is we just do not have the fire power up front. To me it's like every week we'll go to a gun fight and we show up with a knife.

Am I one of the only ones who doesn't rate Spurr? I just think that he has been so average for such a long time and nothing gets done about it?

Outs: Griffin/Clake/ Spurr/ Mayne

In: Sandi/Johnson/ Langdon/ Grey or Hughes

Too many changes is not good I will left spurr out for the time being but if he is not fits Hughes will be hand but letting Weller play there also not a bad idea but not for long term. Is time for him to get more that 15 possession.
