It's not our GF. It's not even our biggest home & away game anymore.

It's 4 points. Nothing less nothing more.

I don't know why Collingwood supporters feel beating their mob is any great big notch on the belt. It's not.
It's still the home game we have gifted you sunshine now toddle off back to the snow.

We're contracted to play 14 games at the 'G as compensation for the MCC giving up their right to host both preliminary finals. The break down is always 9 home, 5 away. The flip side to those away games is we're forced to play 2 home matches at Etihad each year, which always includes one against an Etihad tenant. For comparison Melbourne also plays 14 games (9 home, 5 away) at the 'G in 2017.

In terms of interstate away games since the introduction of GWS we've always travelled interstate 5 times per season and in 2017 out of all Victorian teams it's actually Melbourne who travels less for interstate away games:

6) St Kilda (includes Hawthorn), Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, Richmond
5) Collingwood, Hawthorn, North (includes Hawthorn), Western Bulldogs
4) Melbourne (includes North)
Marvelous selection bias.

This is the first time you've had more interstate trips than Melbourne in how long ?

No problem.

And I've always appreciated Collingwood's philanthropy in this regard.

It's not philanthropy.

It works in Collingwood's favour.

It's a locked-in MCG game that we don't have to spend a home game hosting.

The rivalry between the two clubs is long gone.

Not really. It's still alive in the hearts of anybody over the age of 70. Which probably accounts for half of Collingwood's voting members. The QB fixture is a politically astute gesture by our President ;)

It was once the greatest in the VFL. We love our 6 flags from 7 grand finals against the Pies, but due to our ineptitude any previous rivalry is but a distant memory and hardly relevant today.

Melbourne never recovered from Barassi defecting to Carlton.

You don't need locked in MCG games.

The rivalry is gone even for those who remember.

Melbourne having not recovered from Barassi leaving ? That's just a lazy excuse and bears no relevance to fact.

We don't prostitute our games interstate for cash, maybe Melbourne could try that as well.

I'm liking our small defensive setup, they will probably 1 key forward-Tom Mcdonald and even he isn't a natural KPF and isn't very big either.

They could potentially play some combo of Watts (196cm), Oscar Mc (196), Tom Mc (194), Frost (194) or Pedersen (193) through their forward line so they could really test us if they gain midfield dominance for extended periods. We'll be relying on Dunn (192) and Shaz (191) so on a fine sunny afternoon at the G it could get ugly real quick.

They'll also bring some intense pressure on our ball movement if we can judge from the Casey gameplan.
